"I need your help!"
Honestly, Peter did not think this was going to be Nora's first words to him that day.
She had rushed into physics, frantically trying to find the two boys table. When Ned waved her over, she sighed with relief, running over to them. Now, they sat there, blinking up at her as she tried to catch her breath. Peter was frozen in his spot, pen in his hand. His eyes darted to Ned who tilted his head in confusion. "Um, okay?"
Peter folded his arms, letting his pen down. "What's up?"
Nora smiled, gesturing her hand in an nonchalant way. "Don't worry, it's nothing terrible, well to Aliya it is." getting back on track, she continued. "My dad's birthday is on Saturday and it's supposed to be a surprise but we've bought no decorations, or food and drink. Since their mom is coming, I've been told to call in reinforcements. Anyone want to come along and try and salvage this?"
Ned gave her a sympathetic look. "Sorry, Nora, I can't. I'm babysitting my cousins on Saturday."
"Damn it, okay. Peter?"
Peter sat there for a few moments, looking like a deer caught in headlights. Nora stood in front of him, eyes bright and pleading, she put her chin in her hands, batting her eyelashes. He smirked at her, knowing what she was trying to do. "I'm sure I can, I'll just have to ask my aunt."
She laughed, taking his hands in hers and shaking them. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" the bell rang, prompting her to drop his hands and wink at the two of them, rushing to her seat in the back of the class. Peter followed her moments, a blush warming the tips of his ears as she sat down, giving him a playful look before turning her attention to the lesson about to begin. When he turned back, smiling furtively, Ned was in his face.
"Gah, jeez- Ned!" Peter hissed as Ms. Warren told everyone to open their textbooks.
"She so asked you out!" Ned exclaimed, practically jumping up and down in his seat, making enough noise that the row in front of them glared at them.
Peter shot him a 'I'm gonna kill you' look. "Ned, shut up." he tried to deny, but the tinge of scarlet hitting his cheeks spoke otherwise.
"She wants you to go to her dad's birthday! That's such a date!"
"She asked the both of us." this was his way of trying to get his mind to tell him what his heart wanted to believe was wrong.
"I know, which is why I lied."
Peter's eyes widened, nearly dropping his pen. "You what?"
Ned giggled, seemingly very happy with his plan. "I'm not babysitting anyone on Saturday. You two need some quality bonding time."
Blinking through the confusion, Peter felt his mouth go dry. "I'm gonna be...alone with her?"
"Yup, on a date."
