The Island

Beyond the shores of abyss,

Lies an island far to the south,

South to the land of hope,

Where sea of despair rules all,

Lies an island known to all,

Lies an island unknown to all.

On the island lives none,

On the island lives everyone,

For the island is for all,

Yet few dare to venture at all.

A paradise at heart of hell,

A place few dare to sail,

For love is a thing not for all,

Yet love is a thing for all.

I took a dive into the sea,

For the thing I could see,

A paradise like none,

A haven shining like a beacon.

One thing about the sea,

There are mirages for one to see.

I swam through the sea,

To a beacon I could see,

Yet for all I swam,

The beacon never came.

Deep in the sea I was,

The beacon was not where it was.

A mirage, it dawned upon me,

The sea had its claws tight around me,

Thunder was boiling in the sky,

Not a boat in sight.

The thing about the sea, once afloat,

There was never a shore.

None could tell when the sea would end,

None could fathom when it could end,

Under the grumbling heavens,

In the roaring hells,

I saw a shining maiden,

With a ringing bell,

A Syren in the depths,

Of an ocean full of death,

Standing above the water shining,

A proud island found me crying,

An island none can find,

An island all can find.

I swam ashore to the maiden crying,

A star might have shied to find her smiling,

Eyes gems of a lost time,

Within her face I lost time.

A hand she gave, a hand I took,

Blindness came, a fever I took.

An island lost in time,

An island to lose time.

She pushed, I fell,

Water splashing in my face,

Eyes open, maiden gone,

A fiery storm was still about.

An island all could go,

An island none could go.

Beyond the shores of abyss,

Everything was amiss,

An ocean not of water,

Drowning, the kindest offer.

Eyes red of the water,

In a sea not of water.

A decision easy to make,

Everything was to be forsaken.

Yet a spark still remained,

A vision of the island I gained,

All my might I used,

To get to the island whatever it took.

Hands splashing in the water,

Legs flailing like an otter,

Thunder rolled heavens shook,

Storms came yet I stood.

One thing was still clear,

The island could get rid of despair.

Far off in the distance,

Far off in the time,

I gasped as I stood on the island,

I smiled as I cried on the island.

An island known to all,

An island worth it all.
