The Night Promised

Hold your ears and around me gather,

Sit tight and the bonfire we light up,

Let the ashes burn and wood drift,

For the wind brings us the mist,

The cold holds us in its grips,

The warmth taunts us as it flees,

The world burns as it cries,

Bird of wisdom now seldom flies,

To the silence we must pay heed,

For this is the night promised.

This is the story of a man once dead,

A story of the woman the world dreaded,

Depths of hell a man once ventured,

The hatred the woman once dared,

Shores of sins a man once ventured,

The sacrifices the woman once dared,

Knives of trust a man once got stabbed,

The trust the woman once shared,

To the silence we must pay heed,

For this is the night promised.

Knight of shining light, Prince of Morning,

With every gaze a women's heart, stealing,

Mistress of the magic, Lady of Illusions,

Everyone gave her one thing, poisons,

Riding through tourneys, flowers he spread,

Locked in her prison, light she feared,

Kingdoms shook for a smile of his,

World shook to make her hiss,

To the silence we must pay heed,

For this is the night promised.

A man of valor, to machinations was he prone,

In a jealous woman's web, alas he fell,

The woman of pain, to love was she prone,

In a lustful man's web, alas she fell,

A man of valor, with guilt he was laded,

Drove to a jealous woman's tune while she played,

The woman of pain, with absolution was she grated,

Drove to a lustful man's tune while he played,

To the silence we must pay heed,

For this is the night promised.

Broken and torn, laughed the once knight,

The path of destitute treading, was the once knight,

Ravaged and thrown, cried the mistress,

To leave the path of magic, chose the mistress,

Treading the path of destruction, the once knight,

Left the world for solitude, the once knight,

Abandoning the craft of her heart, the mistress,

Chose the path of perdition, the now once mistress,

To silence we must pay heed,

For this is the night promised.

Dead and desolate, lay the once knight,

Walking the depths of hell, was the once knight,

Shattered and lonely, roamed the once mistress,

Her eyes darting in solace, searching was the once mistress,

Shuddered the bones of the man once dead,

For there was the woman the world dreaded,

An ember sparked left in the bones of the dead once,

The last of her magic used, fell the mistress once,

To silence we must pay heed,

For this is the night promised.

Sit tight and around me gather,

Let the ashes burn and wind stir,

The cold has yet to take its grip,

The warmth has yet to make its flee,

This is the story of a woman, a mistress once,

A story of the man, a knight once,

To silence we must pay heed,

For this is the night promised.

Woke in all his senses, the knight once,

Moved his hand to touch, the mistress once,

The illusions fled his touch, the knight once,

The warmth left her breath, the mistress once,

A hand thrust in trust, the knight once,

A magic laded in sins, the mistress once,

Tears left the man once dead, the knight once,

Left the world that dreaded, the mistress once,

To silence we must pay heed,

For this is the night promised.

A promise made the man dead once,

To bring back the woman dreaded once,

Let the world burn and ashes drift,

For the dead brings us the mist,

The cold has yet to clench its grip,

The warmth has yet to taunt and flee,

The knight has yet to return to dead,

The mistress has yet to become dreaded,

To the silence we must pay heed,

For this is night promised.

A man once dead, the woman world dreaded,

Made a promise to come from the dead,

Hold your hands and around me gather,

Close your eyes and let the world shatter,

The sacrifices the Knight and the Mistress shared,

Depths of hell the Knight and the Mistress ventured,

Hold your breaths lest the Mistress come,

Run in ignorance as the world hums,

To silence we must pay heed,

For this is the night promised.
