"Kat. Kat!" Ice was screaming, somehow silently, "Kat stop texting. He is coming. Kat, he's coming." Kat was bored in History class. Mr. Jenkins was pretty strict about the 'no phones in class' rule but Kat thought she could get away with it. She was wrong.

"Miss Blake, I certainly hate to repeat myself and you certainly do not need to be reminded of the rules as you are a senior student." Mr Jenkins scolded with his posh British accent as he snatched Kat's phone from her hand, "You may retreive your phone from the headmaster's office, after the lesson."

"You should've listened to me!" Ice was almost scowling as they marched towards the headmaster's office, "Now he'll ask you to be assigned detention hours." Kat denied, "I just used my phone for literally a moment, I won't get detention for that."

"I want her to get detention." Mr. Jenkins was speaking now, in a calm tone of voice. When he first arrived at school, Kat found his accent sexy but now, it was getting more and more annoying. "What?!" Kat exclaimed. They both ignored her. Principle Ansari, who was an old Pakistani man, acknowledged the angry teacher in front of him, "But Mr. Jenkins, it's the first day of school and our teacher lists for detention are not even ready, yet." Mr . Jenkins didn't think twice before replying, "Then you must write her down for a future-dated detention." After a little discussion, Mr. Jenkins got what he wanted, "Okay, Miss Blake, you'll be notified soon concerning your detention date."

Ice and Izzy were still waiting for Kat, when she walked out of the room. "What happened?" Ice sounded profusely worried as though Kat wasn't just at the principle's office but rather a court. She cares too much about the people around her, she would genuinely give up her life if necessary, but that's how she gets broken all the time, Kat thought. "I got detention." Kat explained. "Told you." Ice said, while Izzy's reaction was "Not that bad." Kat wasn't exactly bothered by the fact that she got detention but she thought about how boring would it be. 2 hours with no phone, trapped in a classroom with god knows which dull teacher of the school.

"At least it's not today." Ice was relieved when Kat told them that it's a future-dated detention. "What about today?" Izzy asked. "Didn't Kat tell you?" Izzy turned to Kat, "Tell me what?" Kat totally forgot to tell Izzy or Luke, and invite them. "Travis is playing at this bar with his brothers. We thought maybe we can check it out." Izzy looked disapproving, "Are you sure that's a good idea?". "What's the worst that could happen?" was the rhetorical question from Kat but Ice missed the part where it was rhetorical, "Celeste could be there to pluck your hair like weeds in a garden, but since she is the kind, French girl that she is, she won't beat you to death. However, she could bring Effy to do that." Even though she is pretty protective over her friends, when there's drama, Ice can't help but enjoy, feed on it. After all, she is a writer and she creates scenes in her mind based on them. "Thanks for the dystopian scenario, Ice." Kat rolled her eyes.

Celeste Devaux is the girlfriend of Travis, whom Kat's only knowledge of is that she's from France, plays the piano perfectly but not publicly and is this good girl loved by everyone around her. Nothing like herself, Kat thinks. According to Ice, after the death of Travis's mother, Celeste helped him out, therefore he now feels like he owes her. That's the sole reason they are still together after 3 years. Though it could be true, it could also be one of those unreliable scenarios of Ice's.

Effy Fabray is a hell of another story. Kat has seen Effy once or twice in her life since she is a friend of Luke's, but they've never engaged in a conversation. Kat hates her. How could someone hate someone whom they've never even formally met. Well, I said never met, instead of barely knows because Kat knows her, well. Kat might not have a talent in music or arts or sports or anything that obvious but she is certainly a skillful stalker. Luke sometimes says she should be an investigator or something yet she is 'too elite' for that. Effy was Arden's first girlfriend in Berkley. Well, actually Arden wasn't in Berkeley when they first started dating. Effy's family has a well known bar in the area and when business boomed, they opened another one in LA, approximately 3 years ago. That summer, Effy worked there the whole year. Everyone in Berkeley was suprised that she had no boyfriend since she was the kind of girl who had a new boyfriend every other week – slut, some would say. Arden was different, Effy told everyone. That summer they got together. After summer, they tried to pull off the whole distance relationship thing but it didn't work out. When Kat first set her eye on Arden, she found out about their history and it was enough for her to not like Effy. When Arden moved to Berkeley last year, they got back together but it didn't last long. After their break-up, Arden was talking more intimately with Kat, but she always thought Effy maintained a special place in his heart. For Ice, Effy knows that Kat doesn't like her and if she knows that Kat's been flirting with Arden – although not as close now as before – she might not be Effy's favourite person, either.

That night, Kat wore black ripped jeans with a dark gray, lace crop top and 3 inch heels. Her eyeliner was thicker and her lipstick was darker. Her look was completely shading simplistic Izzy and Ice, next to her. Izzy wore denim jeans with 2 inches and a black plain cropped top. Meanwhile, Ice who doesn't enjoy heels as much as most, wore plain black trainers with dark ripped jeans and a black top with a Ying Yang symbol printed on it. Her make up was not as dark as her other two friends but her green eyes didn't need much make up to show out.

All three of them ordered their beers and began waiting for the show to commence. 2 O'Connor brothers and a drummer guy that wasn't familiar were warming up but Travis was nowhere to be seen. For a moment, Kat thought he wasn't going to show up. When it was time to go on stage, Travis appeared out of nowhere. During the set, Ice caught the sight of a wavy, auburn-haired girl in front of the stage, staring lovingly at the black-haired guy with headphones as he made music, admiringly. She also seemed to know the songs backwards. "Look! Celeste is here." said Ice quietly but excitedly. The other two girls turned to look at her direction in a syncronised manner. Even Izzy couldn't help but say, "Of course she's here, it's her boyfriend who's playing." Kat was expecting her to be around but that look of hers and Travis showing up at the last minute and not seeing Kat wasn't in the plan. It was getting boring there.

Before the first break, Kat was gone. Ice and Izzy chose to stay. On the breaks, Celeste didn't leave her boyfriend's side. He didn't seem to be interested in her at all, though. He kept steering away from her or starting up conversations with others when she was trying to talk to him. Izzy thought, that was mean. Ice agreed as well but she also thought that the girl shouldn't be taking this shit, she should break up with him. They all knew that the two had broken up a dozen times but always got back together in the end. In almost every one of them Celeste broke up, Travis didn't appear to care, then, Celeste wanted to get back together. How did they learn that? Jasper might be the ex, but he is also the grapevine. Besides, everyone acts like that relationship never happened. That scene they witnessed, in addition to what they already know, contributed to Ice's theory.

At the end of the show, Ice and Izzy were still there, both because they enjoyed the music and mainly because they wanted to observe Treste, a little. Celeste was gone before they got off the stage. Travis recognised Ice – to her surprise. "Hi, Ice. Is Kat here, too?" he asked casually. "Your an hour late to ask that." Ice thought but instead she said, "Hey Travis, Kat was here, actually,  but she went home earlier on."

All Kat heard from her two besties about the night was that Travis asked about her, but she wanted more details and was wondering about Ice's 'brand new analysis'. So she got ready quicker than usual as if it would make the bus to come faster, too. She was in front of the door waiting for the bus when a totally unfamiliar black Mercedes Benz stopped by her. When the driver's window came down slowly to reveal the person driving it, Kat couldn't believe her eyes.

Hi guys! I've noticed that there are more reads on chapter 1 than the prologue, and I strongly suggest you read it if you haven't yet, as it's kinda like a background to the story.
