Kat's eyes widened with excitement as she glanced at the phone, taking it up to her face, getting closer and closer. "Get up, we're leaving. Go. Go. Go." Kat shooed. "But what about the food? We've just ordered!" Ice protested as Kat took a break from pushing her. "Fine." she agreed, "But we'll eat inside on that blind corner and leave as soon as we're done. Like, immeadiately." Ice looked puzzled, "But I thought you always said that's the corner for either lovers or fuck buddies – which both ends with fucking –  wouldn't that make us seem like lesbians, i don't know, pushing away all the guys?" As Kat hurried inside, "Yeah, well I'm taking the risk. It's better than seeing them both here together and going home hungry." she explained.

"Best buddies? Seriously? Who writes 'Best buddies' as a caption, especially for someone you've just recently become friendly with – so new that even you didn't know about it – and it's the first time they've ever posted a photo with each other." Ice continued to comment consistently on the photo that Çağatay had just posted with Arden, as she simultaneously dug into her Chicken and Mushroom Crepes. "Less talking, more eating, Ice, we can resume this conversation at ours, as we watch Gossip Girl and avoid those two seeing me at the same damn time." Kat complained, then added, "Actually, you don't have to finish that, it's too much for you anyway. Haven't you been saying that you need to lose weight?"

"Fine." Ice agreed as she dropped her fork. She liked eating but she didn't exactly enjoy gaining weight – Who does, though; right? Kat really wants to help Ice with her eating habits and Ice does want to lose the weight, but at times, Kat can be a little more harsh than necessary  and Ice can get a little resentful, almost like a little girl who wasn't given permission to buy the second treat.

The differences between Kat and Ice's personalities were obvious in every single way - could be detected from a mile away. At Kat's place, they binge-watched Gossip Girl as they agreed to disagree, the usual. "For the last couple of episodes, all we've seen is SereNate fucking each other, over and over and over again. That's literally all they're good for. when is she getting back together with Dan?" Ice was still complaining. Commenting and complaining, both for fiction and non-fiction situations was so Ice, she genuinely couldn't help it. "Ugh, I wish they wouldn't get back together, I don't like Dan at all and Nate is too hot and helpless to end up alone." Kat replied, without looking up from her phone, as she always did; which made Ice feel as though she wasn't listening to her endless commentary. Well, to be fair, she wasn't actually listening to most of it. I mean, her comments on literally every single thing and her habit of connecting pieces of information and characters to other series that Kat has never watched or books she's never read, and frankly couldn't care less about – pretty hard to catch up with.

The only thing that was on Kat's mind was not, of course, Serena's relationship status and Blair's  Gucci. She hasn't talked to Arden for days and she's been wanting to, but there was no way she was writing to him first. Throwing out a simple 'hey' and starting up a conversation has never been Kat's thing. Banal, much? Besides, they come to her, not the other way around. When Ice was gone, Kat's excuse was ready.

She neatly put on her bright red lipstick - which she wouldn't be caught dead wearing outside - that made her lips seem fuller and more, well, attention grabbing. She captured a quick (no, actually,  it took about 25 minutes to find the perfect angle) photo of her lips and 'accidentally' sent it to Arden. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I meant to send that to my friend, to show her the new lipstick I bought." By the time he replied, Kat's thoughts were racing, was it too much of an explanation? Would he work out that she was lying? Did she come off too desperate? No, no, he's too dumb for that. "Looks hot. I love red lipstick." was Arden's only answer. Although Kat was a little reluctant to meet him in person after these kinds of conversations, she loved how mischevious Arden was with her. Within a short span of time, the conversation had escalated to whole other level, "Upper lip or lower lip?" Arden asked. It didn't surprise Kat, at all. She knew that after the photo of her lips, the matter was hardly going to remain  purely innocent, or that he would just say "haha it's fine." in the first place. Kat kept the message waiting before she opened it to reply, as she always did; because she had 2 reasons: 1) she doesn't talk before she thinks up a wise, appropriate answer and 2) she can't be seen too eager. Reputation stuff. "Lower." was Kat's answer. No "I think" and no "I suppose." That would made her seem inexperienced which, for the record, she was. But she didn't like to dwell on that. When you're talking to a guy like Arden, who's probably tasted his fair share of Angelinos, as well as celebrities, and certainly Berkeley's most wanted, she can't put herself out as either a slut or callow. "I'm finally moving from the dorms to my own house." was the starter of a second subject. "You have a private room and you're not living in a public hall. I'm sure your parents pay a fortune and you have people that cook for you there. Why on earth would you wanna move out?" Kat asked, because like every other thing he does or says, this one sounded ridiculous, too. Surprise. "I don't wanna keep continue to feel like I'm under their roof and supposed to follow in their footsteps." He anwered. I mean, doesn't he know that he'd still technically be 'under their roof' since they would be the ones paying for it? Well, of course he doesn't. His IQ level isn't enough for that, so Kat let him be. Kat knew that his parents wanted him to be either a musician or a painter like they were, since he is gifted in both of those areas, after all. (Talented and handsome with a harebrain, which requires several witnesses to prove it's existence) However, his dream is to be a game designer, so he's currently, and against all his parents' wishes, studying Graphic Design – oh well, it does essentially necessitate the mentioned missing brain and he has expectedly failed his first year, but you know what they say, never say never.

The conversation recommenced, "Maybe you could stay over one night. We can watch 50 Shades of Grey and I can cook for you." One-day-you-could-stay-over has been a classical subject for the two since forever, and "Sure." was her go-to answer each and every time, and this one was no exception. But there's a problem. More than one, actually. First of all, Kat's dad would never allow her to sleep over at anyone's house (let alone Arden of all people, whom she has never even physically met). Secondly, there's absolutely no way Kat's staying at his place to watch 50 Shades of Grey, we all know how that one would  end. And Finally, it's more than likely he means the offer just about as much as Kat means her 'sure'. Even if he meant it, no girls were allowed in his dorm room. I mean, of course no one exactly obeyed the rules to their full extent, but still. However, now it suddenly felt more risky to say 'sure'. If he were to get his own apartment; his place, his rules. Yet while all planning and arrangements continued to linger in the air, left uncertain, she would keep on playing along.

"Could you be kind enough to occasionally spare us a moment from the guys, darling?" Marissa Blake entered the room, with all her glory and sarcasm. "Which one is it? The dummy or the jobless forever? Or is there a new fish in the tank?" Kat found her as devastatingly embarrasing as her friends found her hilarious. Kat rolled her eyes, in return. "Come and say a quick 'Hi' to your auntie." Marissa shouted out, while she was halfway down the corridor, back to the living room. One of the select few sentences that Kat hated with a passion, but heard oh so often. At least once a week, Kat's aunt from London would call them through Skype. Generally, a 'Hi' is followed by several complaints from her aunt about other family members, whom she argues and makes up with continually. There are, of course, also the ones she hasn't been talked to in years, and no one even remembers why, including themselves. As a matter of fact, Kat's parents are the only ones that have maintained good relations with everyone in the family.  And her aunt, besides being pointlessly mad at them, still cares about the family, although she would die before she admits it. So these weekly calls are mostly about getting news about the others, and generally end - after literal hours of gossip - with; "Anyway, it's none of my business."

When Kat finally gave up and followed her mother's orders, dragging herself to the living room, Kylie, her little sister, was already by the screen. Her aunt was explaining something to her as she was smiled and nodded quietly. She's always so quiet and nice. So quiet, that every now and then, Kat forgets she's home. So nice, that she makes people wonder how her and Kat are even related. Then, Kat heard the voice of a baby, which quickened her pace towards the laptop. The voice belonged to no one other than the new born granddaughter of her aunt. Don't get the wrong impression, Kat isn't the baby loving kinda girl. If you ask her, she'd say, "That's Ice, not me." But Kat likes anything you can classify as 'beautiful' and that kid had the most beautiful eyes she'd ever seen. Despite the atrocious quality of the connection, her unmistakably blue eyes were shining like a pair of aquamarines.

Kat's enthusiasm towards seeing the baby, vaguely reminded her of the times before the baby was born. How she would complain to Ice, "When they come over for the holidays, which is seldom less than a month, I'll have to babysit the kid. Can you imagine me of all people, babysitting? I mean besides my sister, who's thankfully no longer at sitting-age. Knowing her mother, her daughter is likely to be the spawn of the devil, which would annoy the hell out of me, and once again, I'm just. not. good with babies."

"I love babies!" the exclamation was Ice's answer, "I can babysit her! Or we could do it together, but I'd probably still be doing all the work while you stare at your phone and tell me I'm doing something wrong, every once in a while.

Kat snapped right back from her thoughts and into reality when she heard that one question from her aunt, which made her wish the earth would just tear up so she could fall inside it and disappear.

Hey there! What do you think of Çarden or Artay's (which ever you like) friendship? Will it become a problem for Kat? Well, we just need to wait and see, don't we? See you guys in 2 weeks and until then, let me know what you think of the story so far. Good or bad, I'd like to know your opinions.

P.S. Did you know that today's the National Writing Day? I've just learn. Happy National Writing Day to us all and I dedicate this part to it, now :)
