"Sola! Get your ass back here!" Matt shouted at Devin as he scampered around the corner and down the hall. He'd been avoiding him for almost a week and a half, and Matt was not having it.

Sadly, Ricky was upstairs in his biology class while this was going on. Devin was on the first floor, originally making a trip to the library. Instead, he ran into a class-cutting Matt Phagan.

Devin couldn't run very fast in his long skirt, ending up tripping over the black fabric. He hit the ground hard, hissing in pain. He was absolutely fucked.

"Really?! You think you can just hide from me, you whore?!" Matt sneered as he towered over his ex-lover, grabbing him by the dreadlocks.

Devin whimpered, his hall pass on the ground. He shut his eyes as his head was slammed against a nearby locker. He stayed quiet, however, not wanting his words to be turned against him.

"Time's up, you stupid whore. I'm done giving you extra chances." Matt whispered, hitting Devin in the stomach with his knee.

Devin doubled over in pain, coughing. He began to cry, but didn't dare try to get away. Matt was stronger than him, there was no use.

"Break the little faggot before I do it for you!" He snarled, shoving Devin against the lockers and wrapping his fingers around his throat.

"Break me instead."

Ricky sat at the dining table with Lee silently, merely picking at his French fries. He looked down at the food glumly, then grabbed his phone and checked his messages. None. No text from Devin.

"What's got you down, Champ?" Lee asked, popping a fry into his mouth. He was still in uniform, his police badge fastened to his shirt.

"Devin was supposed to come hang out tonight. He's two hours late." Ricky replied, pushing his food away. "Maybe he's realizing that he doesn't actually like me.."

"Ricky, shut your mouth. You're a great guy, and Devin is super lucky to have you around. I can see you guys getting married, having kids,-"

There was a knock on the door. As Ricky gasped and stood up hopefully, the knocking became frantic. Ricky unlocked the front door and opened it, not even getting it all the way open before someone threw themself at Ricky.

Ricky stumbled, noticing the red dreads. He gasped and held Devin close, kissing the top of his head. "You're late, is everything okay-"

Devin looked up at Ricky, his makeup smeared. His eye was black, lip and eyebrow split, a large bruise forming on his cheek. He whimpered and began to cry harder than he was already. "I-I-I got beat up, I-" He could barely form words, he was coughing and sputtering.

Ricky brought him to the couch, lovingly stroking his cheek. "Hey, hey, shhh... You're safe with me. What happened? Lee, can you start a mug of tea for him?"

Lee gave a nod and stood from the table. Ricky crouched in front of Devin, lovingly rubbing his thighs. His baby blue eyes were full of worry, a bit of his black hair falling into his face. He grabbed the fluffy blanket he'd bought for Devin weeks ago, gently setting it over him.

Devin shook his head. He leaned forward and wrapped his arms around Ricky's neck, trembling in fear. Never in his life had he been beaten so badly.

"Oh, Baby... Relax. I'm here. Can you tell me what happened, Baby?" Ricky whispered, getting onto the couch so Devin could snuggle close.

He shook his head. He didn't want to admit anything at all, just wanting to stay with Ricky. He kissed his neck and jaw lovingly, rubbing his chest. "Need you.."

Ricky rubbed his back, closing his eyes. Lee came into the living room with the tea, setting it on the coffee table. "Devin? You're gonna need to tell us what happened."

"N-No!" Devin whimpered, holding Ricky tighter. He didn't want to tell anyone what happened. It was already humiliating enough that he got his ass beat. He nuzzled Ricky's neck. "Don't make me.."

Ricky sighed and shook his head, looking at Lee. "Just leave it be for now."

Devin continued to tremble. On the bright side of things, he didn't think that Matt would leak the video. Devin sacrificed himself to keep Ricky safe, so things were okay now, right?

Devin looked up at his boyfriend and set a hand on his cheek, pulling him into a loving kiss. After they broke apart, his hand stayed on his cheek. "I love you so much."

Ricky blushed as he often did. "I love you too, Dev. Makes me happy that you feel the same way." He whispered, toying with one of his dreads. "Lee? Could you get him some ice, please?"

Lee nodded and went to the kitchen again, grabbing a ziplock bag and filling it with ice. He wrapped it in a paper towel, then brought it back to Devin and set it on his cheek. "It'll stop the swelling."

Devin nodded, sniffling and holding it to his cheek. "Everything is gonna be okay..."

Right?
