Chapter 5

After we finished the fudge Addison is oddly quiet, ending our happy moment.

"Addison, is there something wrong?" I'm praying she says no, I hope I'm not the reason for whatever has her so quiet. Don't be a fool, you probably freaked her out by telling her that you love her. I hate my subconscious it's never is any help. But what if it's right? What if she wasn't ready to hear that? Damn it! Now I can't stop thinking about it.

"No, I just need to tell you what I found out,"Addison said alittle unsure.

I sigh in relief but still I'm freaked out. What if she didn't find good enough evidence for a new suspect?

"So, what did you find?" I try to say it calmly but I think it came out nervous . . . maybe alittle eager.

"Well Marcus is still sticking with his alibi." She pauses and her green eyes look into mine. Addison then continues, "But he says he thinks there is someone else that wanted to hurt her, the guys name was Nick Jameson."

I shake my head immediately while saying "No, there is no way it was Nick. I can't believe you think it could be him."

You see the thing is Nick has been Maria's shadow for as long as I can remember.  He is like a puppy dog following her everywhere. Maria only considered him a friend, but I know he was in love with her. Nick wanted to ask her out but he was to afraid of her saying no and losing her friendship. So you see there is no way he could have hurted her.

"Don't you think he would get annoyed of never having her attention?  Don't you think he hated seeing her with other guys? We all know that he loved her, but don't you think he could have gotten jealous and couldn't stand it anymore? I know we all see Nick as a sweet innocent kid but love and jealousy can make people do crazy things," Addison said it so serious. She was staring at me, trying to make me see the way she sees it, and I think I do, now anyway.

But would Nick really go that far?

"Murder? Do you really think he'd go as far as murdering Maria?" I said angerly and clenching my jaw.

"Daniel," Addison put her hand on mine, "calm down. I don't know but it's possible."

"Is there anything else?"

"Well I found something interesting. The murder weapon happens to be missing."

"It is? Where could it be?" I say, I thought I saw it in my memory by Maria.

"With the murderer, most likely," Addison states grimly.

Just like that I deflate and sadness shoots through me. "Do you know what was the murder weapon? How did whoever did this kill her?" I'm scared that she suffered. In my memory of finding her I couldn't really tell, there was too much blood.

"Daniel, that isn't important. The-"

I cut Addison off and gritted my teeth as I say "Just tell me, I can handle it."

She is silent. Probally trying to put it gently, but what she doesn't know is that it could never be put gently, it will never not hurt. Who is ever prepared to hear how their baby sister was murdered? I hope I'm never prepared, it shows that I care. It shows I'm not okay with what happened.

"It was pocket knife. She was stabbed four times in the stomach. Cause of death was to much blood loss." Addison looks sick after speaking those words. I feel the same way. Whoever did this used a pocket knife; it seems the murderer's intention was to scare her, not murder. As for dieing from losing too much blood, it only means one thing, Maria suffered.
