Lance always knew he annoyed the others. He knows he's always been a nuisance on missions and just around the ship. But hey, he hated himself more than they did.

He didn't like being scolded or yelled at. He didn't like being treated like dirt. And he especially didn't like being thrown off as the jokester, even though sometimes he was the most serious.

On one specific mission, Voltron had just saved an alien planet, and were trying to create an alliance with them. Of course, Allura and Shiro had ordered him to stay in the back and stay quiet.

As the others talked, Lance did as he was told and remained silent. That was until he was pointed out by the queen of the planet.

"You, Blue Paladin, why have you not spoken?" She asked, pointing a slim finger at the paladin. Before he could speak, he was cut off by Allura.

"I'm sorry, your highness, but our Blue Paladin is very... silly, and cannot take things seriously. Please do not min-" She was cut off.

"I feel you should all be more like him. He seems more relaxed than all of you. You must not always be so uptight all the time." The tall woman smiled softly at the young boy, in which he responded with his dashing signature grin. The woman blushed and turned back to the others.

As Lance emerged from Blue, he was surprised by the rest of his team standing in front of his hangar. He stood in front of them, confused and tired, as he put a hand on his hip.

"Somethin' up, guys?" He asked, raising an eyebrow slightly. Allura stepped up to the Cuban boy, a slightly disappointed and skeptical look on her face. Man, that was not the first time he saw that face. Or the last.

She stared him in the eyes, crossing her arms over her chest before starting. "So, Lance. Did you trick the queen or play a prank if some sort? Because, no one has ever told us to be 'less serious' and 'more like you'."

Ouch. That was one punch, right in the gut. The others murmured agreements and laughed something about being more like Lance.

Bam. Another punch, hard in the cheek. He let his gaze fall to the floor, sucking in a breath to hold in the tears threatening to fall.

He left, and no one noticed. Go figure. As he was in the doorway to his room, he heard Pidge saying something to Shiro about 'Lance being too stupid to do anything right'.

Ding ding ding, K.O. Lance walked into his room and broke down. He knew all of this already, he felt even worse about himself anyway. But it felt good to have someone compliment for once.

And to have that taken away from you, the one thing he felt good about for once, to have that treated like a joke, to be told that you can't do anything right, or that any compliment was a prank or that you tricked someone into giving it to you. It hurt. And he was sure the others didn't mean it to, but it did. So he decided upon one thing.

Everyone will be happier without you around. Ah, the voice. That quiznacking voice that expressed his feelings so perfectly. He hated it, hated facing his own thoughts.

He made an important decision, right then and there. But he had to do one thing first.

Without any hesitation, Lance removed a pen and notepad from his desk drawer and swiftly wrote something on the surface, placing it into his pocket.

He left his room, making his way to Blue's hangar. He wanted to clean her before he did it. He spent a whole two hours cleaning and shining his lion, talking to her the whole time.

Finally, he found his way to the lowest part of the castle. The airlock was threatening to open on him any minute.

Lance left the note next to the door, just far enough away not to get sucked in. He took a deep breath and smiled, tears rolling down his cheeks.

Things are better this way. That was his last though before....

He pushed the button.

No one around the castle had seen Lance in awhile, so they decided to search around for him. Each person took different parts of the ship, youngest at the bottom, oldest to the top.

Pidge made her way to the bottom of the castle ship, flipping on the switch to the lights. She noticed a piece of paper flitting around, and made her way to the mysterious object.

And when she saw what was written, she froze. She put on her helmet and called out for the others, voice shaky and weak.

The room was silent as Pidge held the letter in her hands, preparing herself to read it aloud. Since she had found it, they all decided she should do the honors.

After taking a deep breath, she started.

Dear Paladins,
It feels weird to write that, ha. So I guess if you're reading this, I'm dead. Sorry if you're sad, but I'm sure you guys are sad now, but you'll get over it. I was a nuisance, after all. Anyway, I have stuff to say to you individually, but that'll be at the end. I just want to say, please find a good paladin for Blue, one that will love her and clean her. She's sad right now, please have your lions comfort her.

[After the individuals]

You guys were family. I loved you all, and I hope you felt the same.

Sincerely,
Lance
