[Author’s note: You should really check out the YouTube channel “GHOST”. Nooo, it’s not mine, but they make really cool songs. It’s hard to find the channel with just that, so type in “GHOST vocaloid” and it should be the first channel to pop up. Fun fact; I was listening to their cover of “Dog of Wisdom” on repeat for the majority of the time I wrote this chapter.
Also, this is the first time where I use the Main Character’s (that means your) name. When you see (MC), just replace that with your name.
Last thing: there’s a P!atD reference in here, and if you find it, I’ll love you forever.
Anyway! Here it is!]
I sigh, dragging my legs as I reach my front door. I made it to work almost fifteen minutes late. I’m lucky that I’m on such good terms with everyone and that I’m normally very hardworking and punctual. Otherwise, I might have lost my job today. Obviously, I couldn’t say that somebody had kept me from leaving on time, because then I would have to give away that I was living with someone; someone who didn’t want to be known…
Despite the fact that my boss let me off with a warning, I feel like he punished me with extra work. Most of what I had done today was due by the time I left the office, so obviously I wasn’t leaving until it was all finished. Now, here I am, coming in late and dead tired.
I turn the doorknob, groaning as I see the figure in front of me. Dark taps his foot rather impatiently. “And why were you not back home earlier?”
I stumble in, barely closing and locking the door behind me. “Save it. I was late to my job this morning because of a certain someone, so I had to stay late and finish my work.” I turn to face him but the lights are fairly dim. I squint to see him but it doesn’t make it any better. Does it ever? I wonder. “God, I knew I shouldn’t have skipped lunch…” I mutter.
I see him step forward. “Oh, so you’re saying it was my fault?” He chuckles. “Sorry to tell you dear, but I’m not taking the fault here.”
I scoff. “I don’t care if you’re taking it, I’m giving it to you. No, you’ve actually had it this whole time.”
I can’t see his expression but I’m sure it’s angry. “Are you trying to make me mad? Do not test my patience, dear.” Yep, angry.
I sigh. “Whatever. I need to go lay down.” I begin to walk forward but sway a bit in the dark. “And would you please turn on the lights?”
I feel his hand on my arm and try to shrug it away. His voice is hesitant. “The lights are on.”
I look back at his out of-focus-face. “Oh.” I look up at the lights, dim in my vision. They begin to multiply, slowing fading. “So they are.” I see them rise up, right before they disappear.
---------------
“Darling, someone’s here to see you.” A voice calls out from behind the door. The person doesn’t sound very happy to be informing me of this.
I sit up in bed quickly, gasping with realization. Jonathan was supposed to come over today to pick up Sheila! I run to the door, peeking through the hole to see him standing patiently, his hand poised to knock once more. After he did, I stepped back a little, shouting “Sorry! I’ll be there in just a second!”
I hear a chuckle come from the other side of the door as I’m leaving to get dressed. Once I’m finished and look decently presentable, I walk back to the front door. I look down at myself. I guess shorts and a tee are fine, right? I couldn’t find my jeans…
I open the door, smiling as I welcome Jonathan in. He glances around, clapping his hands a few time before calling out to his dog. “Sheila! Here girl!” She comes running, practically jumping into his arms. “Aw, did you miss me?” He ruffles her fur, laughing as he straightens up, looking over at me. “Thanks, it really means a lot.”
He leans against the back of the couch and I smile. “It’s no trouble. I actually like having her around.”
“Maybe I should leave her here more often.” He rubs the back of his neck. “I’d get to come over and pick her up even more, then.”
I feel my face flush a little. I knew that Jonathan had liked me for a while, but I didn’t have any intentions of returning his feelings. “Jonathan, I-”
He leans forward, taking my hands into his. “(MC), please.” My heart races but not because of Jonathan. This was starting to feel like a very bad situation. “I know that you’ve known how I felt about you.” Of course it came to this.
I shake my head, easing back. “Jonathan, I’m sorry.”
He places his hands against the couch, trapping me between his arms. He looks at me, his light blue eyes begging me to listen. “(MC)...”
He leans toward me and I panic. “N-no! Stop it!” I push on him, but he doesn’t move much. It stops him, but he doesn’t back up. He looks a bit hurt and opens his mouth to reply but his eyes go wide as he’s jerked backwards.
I grab at Dark’s arm as he lifts Jonathan up by his collar, slamming him against the wall. “No, stop it! It’s not his fault, so don’t hurt him!”
Dark tightens his fist, but lets Jonathan drop. I crouch down beside him, helping him stand. “Didn’t know you had a boyfriend already…” He mutters, looking hurt.
Dark crosses his arms and I frown. “Yeah… I’m sorry, I tried telling you just now. I never thought to tell you before now since I thought you understood that I didn’t have feelings for you…”
He rubs the back of his neck, letting out an awkward chuckle. “Man, I really read everything all wrong. Sorry about that.” He puts his palm up to his forehead. “Man, that was way uncool. I went too far and I know it…”
I feel something being put into my hand and look over to see Dark handing me the dog leash. I glance over at Jonathan and he nods. “Thanks again. I really do appreciate you taking care of Sheila for me while I was gone.” He takes the leash, giving me a quick wave before I wave back. I close the door, hesitant to face Dark.
“So, if it wasn’t his fault, then who do I punish?” I turn to him, the look in his eyes answering his question before I can. “My dear, I believe you’ll be giving in to me once again.” He lifts my chin to look at him.
I’m not sure what got into me, but I felt like being cheeky. “Don’t you think the things you’ve been saying are starting to sound repetitive? I mean, at least try to change up what you say if you’re really trying to seduce me.”
Dark smiles, leaning forward. “I’ll swear to shake it up if you swear to listen.”
I gulp. “Isn’t that all I can really do anyway? Listen?” My voice starts to shake. What the hell am I doing? “You’re all talk and no action…”
The moment I see his expression shift, I knew I would regret my words. “Do you understand why I am most upset with you?” He takes a step closer to me and I’m instantly retreating. “Despite what you may have told him, I want to make it very clear to you.” I’m pressed against the wall now and he presses my wrists against the wall beside my head. “You…” he leans forward, kissing underneath my ear, “belong to me.”
[Author’s note: in case you haven’t guessed it yet, yep, the smut is on its way. Next chapter will start off with it so be prepared. It won’t be the entire chapter, of course, but be prepared to skip part of the next chapter if you’re not cool with that stuff.]
