While Paisley slept in their temporary bed, Rosabeth carefully slipped into her running clothes. Shoes in hand she tiptoed out of the house.

Rosabeth stood on the steps of her new home, ready for her morning run. It was only five a.m., one of those mornings where the weather was the right amount of warmth but not too hot. Just comfortable. She debated whether or not she should bring along her Mace. She tucked it into her shorts. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.  You never know what jackass could be lurking from behind the bushes waiting to grab you.

Rosabeth walked to the end of the driveway. She decided to go left and began jogging. There was no one else around. It would be a nice solitary run. Rosabeth loved her jogs. It was a great way to keep in shape, burn up those calories from the food she enjoyed. It was also a great way to reduce stress and clear her head.

This was one of those mornings. Rosabeth thought about Paisley, still sleeping at the house. Her sweetie, Rosabeth thought with a smile. Even though she teased Paisley about moving in with her to split the rent, that wasn't true. Rosabeth did enjoy living with her Pais. It was nice to share the good times as well as bad. To wake up together, have a meal together, watch TV and so on.

But then Paisley brought up the M word. Marriage. Where did that come from? They hadn't even unpacked and already Paisley wanted to discuss putting a ring on it. What's that about?

Rosabeth stopped at a bakery and picked up some pastries, some of Paisley's faves. As she jogged home Rosabeth hoped that Paisley won't bring up the marriage issue anytime soon. Personally she liked things the way they were. If it ain't broke don't bother fixing it.

Paisley however wasn't done with the issue. She wasn't sleeping, she heard Rosabeth sneaking around the place like the professional sneak she was. She knew her Rosabeth well, this was what she did when she wanted to avoid an issue. Typical. She should just sit up now and confront her but what good would that do? Rosabeth would just stick to her guns with her "if it ain't broke don't fix it" beliefs.

Paisley couldn't go back to sleep. Why was Rosie like that she wondered. What was so wrong about getting married? As long as she could remember that was Paisley's dream, to wear a white wedding gown and exchange rings with the one she loved. That dream didn't change when she discovered her preference for other girls. It was still alive and kicking. If Rosabeth thought that she was going to let it go she'd better think again.

But right now Paisley had to focus on current matters. She had called the Sunset Valley Police Department about a job and was supposed to go in that morning.  They needed to get a car.  There were going to be bills coming in soon, they'd better be prepared for them.

Several weeks went by. The girls were settled in well. Paisley found her job as a cop okay. Since there wasn't a lot of crime in the simple town her job was pretty easy. Just your usual parking tickets. Although she was more than grateful that the town was safe, sometimes she found herself yearning for a little action. At least something more that shuffling and filing papers.
