The wedding day was fast coming up. The women had a lot to do. The venue, the food, but most importantly, what to wear. They couldn't seem to agree on that. Or anything for that matter.
"What's the big deal?" Rosabeth had asked. "Why can't we just run down to the town hall and get it over with? Easy peasy. Get her done."
Paisley sighed in exasperation. "Well gee, Ro, it's our wedding day, not a trip to the dentist. 'Get it over with?' Really? With all the pretty shoes you have you'd rather keep it casual?"
"All I'm saying is we don't have to turn into a couple of bridezillas," Rosabeth insisted. "I wanna enjoy the big day, not end up on somebody's hit list. Remember when Marisa got married? I was shopping around for a backup alibi."
Paisley laughed at the memory. "Oh my gosh I forgot about that. Yikes."
"Right?"
"It won't be like that, I promise," Paisley reassured her with a pat on the hand. "I just want this day to be perfect. I want the best for us, something that we will remember for a long time."
Rosabeth knew her girl. Nothing but perfect for this one. "Alright, but no bridezilla?"
"No bridezilla."
But then the next few days Paisley was running around like a mad woman.
"They ran out of chicken? How can they run out of chicken? Who runs out of chicken?" Paisley screamed into her phone. "My guests are counting on chicken! This is so unfair! My wedding day is in two days!"
And later:
"What do you mean we can't have our reception there? What gas leak? Crap!"
And still later:
"We wanna have the ceremony in the park, can't you make the kids play soccer somewhere else?"
Rosabeth just sat back and watched her sweetie slowly turning into the bridezilla she swore she wouldn't turn into.
Finally Paisley was off the phone. She ran up to Rosabeth.
"I did it. We booked some time at the park. I found a caterers that has chicken. And the hall said the gas leak has been cleared up so the reception is a go."
"Yay."
"Yay? How about an enthusiastic 'yes!' I did it!"
"You sure did."
"I did the imposible. Our wedding day is going to be absolutely perfect!"
Their long white dresses hung in the closets, their shoes set aside, ready for the big day. Paisley's dress was a long white strapless gown. She also had small heeled slippers to match. Rosabeth's dress was a light baby blue gown that she was wearing with white silk gloves and open toed heels. They were beautiful.
Early morning on the big day Paisley woke up to the sound of thunder. She flew out of bed and looked out the window. Heavy rain pounded the ground. There were already puddles forming, growing bigger.
Paisley stared out in disbelief. Really? Her big day and it's storming? Why? She got out her phone and checked the weather. Nothing but rain all day.
With a heavy heart Paisley had to admit that she was going to have to postpone their wedding to another time. Preferably during a drought.
She heard Rosabeth coming out of the bathroom. "Ready for the big day? Or are you thinking about an escape?"
"Have you even looked outside? It's a mess!" Paisley wailed. "The day is ruined!"
Rosabeth looked out the window. "Well damn, you're not lying."
"What are we going to do? What about the caterers? I have to make some calls--"
Rosabeth took the phone from her hand. "I got this. Relax, babe." She left the room to make some calls while Paisley stared out at the sky, hoping for just a small break in the weather. No luck, the rain only came down harder. What rotten luck.
Rosabeth rushed back into the room. "Hurry up, we have to get this place together before we get dressed." she said as she began straightening up the place.
"Wait, what's happening?"
"We're going to have the wedding and the reception right here." Rosabeth announced. "I arranged it. Everyone will be coming here."
"Really?"
"It'll be a nice small ceremony with close people. Something simple." Rosabeth said as she shoved her shoes and stray clothes into the closet. "But we need to hurry up and clean up the house first. Don't want to start off our marriage with a disaster area."
They rushed around cleaning and dusting and moving the furniture aside to accommodate the guests. Then they did each other's hair and makeup and got dressed into their wedding gowns.
"I don't want to cry," Paisley said as she fanned her face. "I don't want to ruin my makeup."
"You look beautiful." Rosabeth said.
"You look beautiful." Paisley responded. "Don't cry, don't cry."
Soon the guests arrived in the small house. The person officiating the ceremony stood before the couple as they held hands and tried to keep it together.
"Paisley, do you take Rosabeth to be your partner in life? To have and to hold from this day on?"
"I do," Paisley said as she held Rosabeth's hand.
"Rosabeth--"
"I do!" Rosabeth announced.
"Wait for the rest, sweetie." Paisley playfully tapped her on the arm.
They exchanged rings and soon they were married.
"Congratulations!!"
The women were so happy as they kissed each other.
"I'm not crying you are." Rosabeth teased a little.
"There goes my makeup." Paisley said as she dabbed her cheeks with a kleenex.
They did their first dance as Mrs and Mrs in the center of the living room. The rest of the afternoon went well as everyone managed to fit in the small space with no problems. The caterers arrived with the food and everyone enjoyed the mix of chicken and fish. Later Paisley and Rosabeth cut the wedding cake in the kitchen.
As the day went on, the women sat together in the corner, holding hands.
"This was an amazing day," Paisley said. "I really thought the day was ruined but it turned out better than I thought. Thank you, Ro." She gave Rosabeth a kiss on the cheek.
"See, what'd I tell you? Make your own rules takes the pressure out of it." Rosabeth said. "We couldn't ask for a better day."
"I will definitely remember this day forever." Paisley said.
"Me too, babe."
The End
Authors note: Thank you so much for reading my very first story. I can't believe I actually finished it. I started this book on February 1, 2017 after my Sims 3 game. Then I got hit with some serious writers block and wasn't able to finish it for four years. I always like to finish what I start so I never gave up. I hope you didn't either. Big shoutout to danikriss for helping me with this writing business. I couldn't have finished this without her.
It's been a while since I played with Paisley and Rosabeth in the Sims 3. They did adopt more cats and one little boy named Keenan in the game. Maybe I will write some more about them later. Again thanks everybody :)
