"This is Scarlett Bieber's first academy award."
"No way," Eli stared at the TV, afraid if he looked away he might miss something. "Are they serious? She won?"
"Yes! Oh man," Adam turned the volume up. "I bet Dax is freaking out."
"Oh my god, oh my god," Eli grabbed his phone. "I don't even know what to say."
"She looks amazing. And way older than 17."
"Shhhh," Eli could barely hear the TV over his heart racing. He snapped a picture of the TV screen and covered it in crying emojis.
Scarlett didn't seem even half as nervous as Eli felt. He listened to every word of her acceptance speech, not sure if he took a breath until she was gliding off stage to the swell of the orchestra music.
"She's the youngest winner ever. That's insane."
"She was perfect. Humble and professional but not too perfect. They'll find just the right kinds of things to criticize and she'll be on every single TV show and magazine cover for the next 5 years," Eli decided, sending a few more snaps with his thoughts.
"Eli," Adam laughed.
"Hmm?"
"Do you know how to stop being a fanboy for even like 5 seconds?"
"Why?" Eli looked up to see if Adam was serious.
"She's basically your little sister, can you just celebrate for a second?" Adam raised his eyebrows.
"This is my love language," Eli held up his phone.
"I know, I just wondered," Adam sighed. He turned to his own phone, a blank expression on his face.
"Hey, come on," Eli nudged Adam. "Let's send her a video."
"Alright," Adam put his phone down and smoothed his hair, though it was already perfect.
Eli knew he wouldn't hear back from Scarlett until much later that night but he sent Dax and Brent a few texts to see if they were still breathing. Brent insisted they were both freaking out just as much as Eli was but Eli didn't get to reply because Adam took away his phone.
"Hey, I was in the middle of something," Eli protested.
"Yeah, I'm gonna ban phones from our bedroom," Adam told him. "I'll buy us real alarm clocks."
"What if there's an emergency?"
"We'll keep the phones in the bathroom, where we can hear them but not be distracted by them," Adam tossed Eli's phone over his shoulder. It landed on the carpet but still made a painful thud.
"Adam."
"Eli," Adam crawled on top of him. "I'd really, really, really, like for you to turn the TV off and let me fuck you until our alarm goes off in the morning."
"I would really be okay with that," Eli barely had enough room to reach the remote.
"I need to hear yes," Adam kissed his neck.
"Yes, yes, yes."
"Anything I want?"
"Yes, anything," Eli moaned as Adam dragged his tongue along Eli's neck, drawing a line to his earlobe.
"Close your eyes," Adam whispered.
Eli sighed when he felt Adam move off him but tried not to sound too upset. He heard Adam laugh a little and wondered what his husband was up to. It was always hard to tell how much time was passing with his eyes closed, especially when he was as horny as he felt at the moment. No matter how his mind wandered, Eli couldn't figure out what Adam might be doing.
