I opened my eyes, half-closed, as the beam of the sunlight peeped through my window. I squeezed my eyes shut and just opened it up again, trying to wake myself up. I decided to get up and sat on my bedstead and glanced at my alarm clock sitting on my side table. I'm already late.
I dashed into my bathroom and cleans myself quickly. I have to hurry. I laced myself with a mint green loose polo and a white skinny jean, then hastily go downstairs.
"Mom!" I called.
I just want her to know that I'm already leaving. Seconds have passed but no one answered, I guess she's out for the market, so I decided to leave.
I drove my car as fast as I could just to get on time but I'm too late. Really late.
As I enter the building, I kept on checking the time but it's already useless, I know that I didn't arrive on time. I felt so embarrassed by the thought that the other employees were doing their best just to go to work on time, for sure they're already doing their jobs. As I walk on the hallway, gazes were pinning me on the wall. They have every right to look at me like that because it's shameful for a new employee to come late.
I have also heard that the director is furious to an employee who's always late. I should be more precisely on time and earlier than my teammates.
I walked as fast as I can, I want to avoid their judgmental gazes until I got in front of the elevator and heard a familiar voice that made me stop from entering it.
"Ms. Hesse," Greco calls out my name. His voice got all the attention of the employees roaming around the hallway. I already heard it but I didn't want to look at him, I just decided to wait for the elevator to come down.
"Hey, Seraphine." I'm so embarrassed so I didn't have a choice but just to look back to see him. He's stunning with his gray corporate attire and it gives him more authorities.
"Oh! Good morning, Mr. Greco." He's smiling genuinely while I am dying inside because of my disgraceful act.
"Good Morning, Ms. Hesse. I thought you didn't hear me." He said, still smiling at me.
"I just like to welcome you to my company; I think we can work together." He added. I looked down to my shoes because of embarrassment.
"Oh, you're not comfortable with me. I'm sorry." I immediately looked at him.
"Of course not, Sir. It's just that I am not comfortable on how they look at me." Talking about everyone who surrounds us.
"But I am thankful that you gave me a chance to be part of your company. I promise to give my very best to fulfill the company's goal and agenda." He's still smiling genuinely.
"You know, Seraphine. I'm not really comfortable talking to you. Calling me 'Sir' or 'Mr.' makes me old." He chuckled.
"I'm sorry, Sir-I mean Greco. I need to go to my office. I would like to know better my team mated and it was nice seeing you today."
Seconds later, the elevator pinged. I was about to enter the elevator when he held my wrist that made me look at him nervously.
"Just-would you like to have a cup of coffee? There is a café near this building." I want to refuse him but that would be rude and there's nothing wrong with that.
"S-Sure, why not?" A smile spread across his face as soon as he heard my answer. He looks so gorgeous.
"Shall we?" He gestured our way and he started walking beside me. Everyone is greeting him politely. I am amused by the way people respect him like he is known as a terror director.
