Kali, Jesse, and Perry continued running, but the cops weren't far behind.

"Quick this way!" Kali told the boys as she held up some lose fence boards for them to squeeze through.

Perry soon led the others into a dark shed.

"Oh, crap!" Jesse said, after he tripped and knocked over a few things due to darkness.

"Shh, be careful!" Kali whispered, turning on a light-switch. "We'll lay low for awhile until we know the cops are gone" the tomboy instructed the boys.

Perry got out some spray paint and started to graffiti the walls. Only a few seconds after, Kali and Jesse heard a strange noise. The animal lover teen could've sworn it sounded like some kind of cetacean creature.

"What was that?" Jesse asked nervously.

"Stay close to me" Kali told him for protection.

Kali went slowly through the dark room with Jesse following close behind her. She heard some noises more clearly that sounded like orca vocalizations.

"It couldn't be..." she thought.

Just then, lightning from outside illuminated the room. Right there, Kali was face to face with a killer whale. She flinched only for a moment before Jesse screamed and ran off.

"Jesse, wait!" Kali told her friend. "It's just an orca"

The scared boy slowly came back to get a look for himself. The two teens were both in awe as the whale swam by.

Kali noticed, the orca looked sad and lonely. She thought there was something familiar about this whale.

But before she could say anything, they heard Perry yell out...

"Guys, cops! RUN!"

The teens bolted out of the room as they were chased. But before they knew it, the kids were tackled to the ground by some cops telling them to relax with a native american man staring at them.

The next morning, the two teens were brought back to their social worker, Dwight. He was more disappointed in Kali since she was older, (but only by a couple of months).

"We were lucky this time, I kept you guys out of court. You guys have to clean up the mess you made at Northwest Adventure Park. That is your probation" Dwight explained to them. "Any problems?"

"Yeah, why should we have to clean it up?" Jesse sassed.

"I'm sorry about this, Dwight" Kali hung her head, feeling ashamed for what happened.

"Okay look, your placement is still on with the Greenwoods" Dwight told the kids. "They don't even care about this incident"

"What's wrong with them?" Jesse sassed out again.

"You're both still young so you guys get some chances, not an infinite number of chances but a few" Dwight told them. "Now, you guys have any questions?"

"You hear from my mom?" Jesse asked hopefully.

Dwight sighed, knowing Jesse's been asking that question for a long time. "Nobody's heard from your mom in six years, Jesse"

Jesse felt sad as he had been searching for his mom since he ended up on the streets. Kali was also sad that she had lost her parents and younger siblings in a car accident. But she still had hope that they were still alive.

Later, Dwight took both 12 year old's to the Greenwood's, parking up in front of their house.

"Anytime you're ready" Dwight told the kids before they got out of the car. The Greenwoods then came to greet them.

"How are you, Annie?" Dwight asked.

"Good" she replied.

"It's been a long day for the three of us" Dwight mentioned, looking to Kali and Jesse.

"Thanks for having us stay" Kali politely smiled to the Greenwoods.

At least she was trying to be nice, unlike Jesse who was still upset.

"Why don't we go inside and wash-up and we'll have dinner" Annie suggested.

Dinner was okay for everyone. Kali at least tried to have a conversation with the Greenwoods, unlike Jesse.

After dinner, the Greenwoods showed the preteens up to their room.

"Our bedroom's downstairs, but you two got the best view in the house" Annie said.

The kids then noticed a present on the bed.

"It's a welcome gift" Glen told them. "You can open it later, if you'd like"

"Thank you" Kali smiled to them.

"You're welcome. And you can call us Glen and Annie" They said, smiling back to them.

"If you need us for anything we'll be downstairs" Glen told them.

"Good night Jesse, Kali. It's great to have you here" Annie added.

The kids had their own separate beds. Jesse got out his harmonica and started playing it, while Kali gazed out the window. She couldn't get the thought out of her head about the orca she and Jesse saw the other night.
