Her Wolf

Ch. 2 Not an ordinary wolf

It continued like this all summer. Camila would meet me at the edge of the woods, and I would allow her on my back so that I could run us back to the same clearing that we met.

She would tell me about things going on in her life, about her friends, and her family. She'd tell me her thoughts on everything, and I would just lay there and listen. Sure I could have shifted to my human form, but I didn't want to scare her. I cared about her. It was slowly becoming more. There was just something about her that connected us. She was just so perfect.

I wanted to mark her. I knew if I did I'd be able to talk to her while in my wolf form. But to mark her, I had to bite her. I didn't want to hurt her. Something in me screamed that she was my mate. I had to show her what I was soon. I could mark her without changing her, but what if she wanted to be like me?

I'd give her whatever she wanted. No matter what it was, if I could give it to her I would.

Suddenly I heard a twig snap to the left of me. I looked towards the woods, acutely alert. Camila was picking flowers just 15 feet behind me. Watching her I stood up and smelt the air. By the time the rogue wolf's scent hit me it was too late. It darted out of the woods straight for Camila. I leaped into action and tackled the wolf to the ground. My claws raked across the slightly smaller wolf's face. It yelled and snapped at my shoulder, catching it in it's teeth. I howled in pain and shook the wolf off me.

We circled each other before charging. I was vaguely aware of camila cowering against a tree. Suddenly the rogue grabbed me by my neck in its mouth and threw me against a tree. I didn't move for a moment. Everything hurt. I looked at the wolf and saw it stalking towards Camila, and she was crying.

Suddenly it's as if my body was full of adrenaline fueled by rage. I roared and lunged at the wolf, knocking it to the side. My mouth was quick to close around its neck. The wolf clawed at me, shredding my stomach and ribs wide open, but I had had enough.

With one final clamp of my powerful jaws, the wolf's neck snapped in my mouth. I dropped the wolf to the ground and heaved a heavy breath. I turned around and looked at Camila be for collapsing on the ground. I was vaguely aware of Camila rushing to my side amd burying her face in my fur.

I whispered and she ran her hand through my fur, carefully inspecting my wounds. Then she stopped and looked me in the eyes.

"Thank you. For saving me." She said softly

I nodded my head stiffly and then placed my paw on her lap. She held it and cried softly.

"You're gonna be okay. You have to be." She cried

My heart felt like it was breaking.

"I need you to be okay. I love you and I need you in my life." She whispered and closed her eyes.

That was all I need to hear to give me enough strength to shift back to human form. My hand clasped her amd I whispered to her softly.

"I love you too Camz."

Her eyes snapped open and she gasped. Her eyes raked over my now nude body, seeing all my injuries amd then finally moving to my face and her breath hitched when she met my eyes.

"How?" She whispered

"I'm not an ordinary wolf." I chuckled gravelly

"I gathered that by your size and ability to understand me." She said softly

I smiled at her and squeezed her hand in mine. She was beautiful even when she was crying.

"What are you?" She asked repeating the exact question she asked me on the day we met.

"I'm a werewolf." I sighed out

She looked at me with wide eyes before she took off her jacket and placed it over me, effectively covering me up.

"You wanna tell me your name?" She giggled.

I smiled at her and then let my head fall to the ground. She looked at me worried and she had good reason to be, with the state I was in. It was going to be a while until I healed. A day at most. I tried to move and Camila helped me. I placed my head in her lap and sighed. She gently ran her finger through my hair, stroking my scalp. I let out a purr like moan and she giggled.

"It's Lauren. Lauren Jauregui." I whispered

"Tell me more." She asked

I chuckled at this. I'd tell her everything. But I had to rest first and heal before I did so.

"Come with me. Call your parents and tell them you're sleeping at Dinahs. I need to heal. It'll take a good bit of hours amd when I have my strength back, I'll tell you everything." I said and asked all at once.

"Okay. But how are you gonna get home?" She asked

I opened my mindspeak and reached out to Demi.

'Demi, I need you to come find me. There was a rogue wolf. I can't walk'

She answered back almost immediately.

'I'm on my way Laur. Just sit tight.'

"Demi is coming for us. Selena will probably be with her." I said nuzzling further into Camila.

She leaned down and placed a kiss on my forehead.

"Okay. As long as you're going to be okay." She said softly

I let my eyes close as Camila continued to run her fingers through my hair. I soon drifted to sleep while waiting for Demi to come find me.
