When Gibbs got home on that day, a veritable delegation from the beyond were there to greet him. Mike, of course, Gibbs had expected him. But there were two more ghosts in the living room. The one appeared tall and stocky and was dressed in antique clothing. Mike introduced him as "Inspector Thomas Brackenreid," who, on his own added, "Late of the Toronto Constabulary."
The third ghost was not fully-formed nor functioning yet. He appeared like a projection of a person and his feet did not show up at all. Gibbs guessed that this third 'personage' was the victim, Detective Edward Wessex.
Gibbs looked at Wessex. After a glance at Mike, Gibbs stated, "I met an Inspector Donald Lamont this morning - said he was your boss." Wessex nodded slowly, like his head was moving through gelatin or pudding. So Gibbs took that as verification and continued, "Did he have anything do do with your death?" Wessex frowned and shook his head, and it was definitely moving faster this time, and looked like he wanted to throttle Gibbs.
Brackenreid tipped up his cane in front of Wessex and said authoritatively, "Now hold on, me old mucker. The man's just dong his job." Wessex stopped, but looked quite put out. "Dont you worry," Brackenreid assured the newly dead Canadian agent, "You're learning. Soon you'll have no boundaries to what you can do."
"And you," Brackenreid said to Mike, "You were a wee lad last time your GrandDad brought you to Toronto. You've grown up, I see." Mike coughed and laughed, "Yea, grown up, grown old and grown dead too!" The two men started laughing and everyone in the living room joined in, even the newest dead. "But seriously, "Brackenreid continued, "I want to thank you, Mikey,"(as Mike winced - he knew Gibbs would never let him live that one down), "for telling me about this case. It's been a long time since I've done any investigation and the victim is my countryman. It's practically a duty for me."
