The wind felt nice through my hair as Milena and I flew. We soared high and low through the sky.

"Wait up! I'm coming with you two!"

The familiar voice made me tense up. I didn't want to see him at all.

"Is that... RALPHIE?" Milena stopped in mid-air before she turned around and raced into the arms of the angel that kissed me just moments before.

"Milena! It's been a long time."

"How do you two know each other?" I asked in disbelief at their little spectacle.

Ralph released Milena and she began to fly again, headed east.

"We're all a team, you know," she said quietly. "You're the one who led us all. Without you, we'd be lost as hell." She smiled.

Ralph kept his distance as we flew, staying several yards behind us. It gave me time to talk to Milena, privately.

"Mil, there's something I need to ask you."

"It's about him, isn't it?" She threw a thumb over her shoulder.

I nodded.

She sighed. "You haven't remembered all of your time with him, have you?"

I shook my head.

"You two were lovers."

I closed my eyes. She just confirmed my worst fear.

When she saw the expression on my face, she said, "But it wasn't as bad as you think."

"How could being unfaithful to Kade be anything but bad?"

"He had his moments, too. It wasn't just you. Besides, sleeping with other angels is how you kept control of them."

I shook my head. "That isn't ever going to happen again."

"Lighten up, Deryn."

"You're telling me to lighten up, when I've caused so much trouble and probably a lot of heartbreak?"

She sighed. "I was telling Kade about how much I missed the old you. Not this... cautious and caring softie. Where's your badass side?"

"It doesn't exist."

"Not yet, anyway." She smiled before flying faster. "But I'm hoping that you return to your old self again. All of us really miss that."

I chewed on my lip as I followed Milena. We were over the ocean, and there was nothing but the color blue for thousands of miles all around, excluding the sun and each occasional tuft of cloud. I flew upwards and nosedived until I almost hit the water before rushing up again. I shut my eyes and increased my speed. I created little circles in the sky, and I could hear Milena calling to me.

"Hey Deryn don't get so far away that you get lost! We're a little over halfway there."

"Okay?" I shouted back, flying with my back to the water and my face to the sky. I glided until I had to flap my wings again, which decreased my altitude slightly.

"Deryn we can see France! You have to stop lollygagging!"

I flew upright and returned to Milena's side. I threw a glance over my shoulder to Ralph, who had been silent the entire journey.

"Maybe about twenty more minutes until we reach Prague?" He called to Milena.

"Give or take. Hey Deryn, see that down there?" She pointed, and my gaze followed her finger.

She sighed. "You've never been there, at least, not that you can remember. If this wasn't an emergency then I would say that we could drop by."

My face lost its elated expression when I was reminded why we were making this journey in the first place. I shut my eyes and hoped that Kade would be okay.
