A/N: We hit a big mark!!!!! Almost 480 reads!! Thanks for the support whether you are new or have been here since the beginning. Sorry if the book seems slow I just want to really introduce the characters.
Seth's POV:
Are Izzy and I going to telling Abby about my "Dad"?Probably not.... if she finds out she would probably be upset we didn't tell her.....I just couldn't tell her yet. Abby hasn't seen the bad in life. She does try to understand though. That's why we love her. She was still innocent from this cruel world. I shook my head as if to clear my thoughts. I grabbed my Bible and headed downstairs for breakfast. Mom had left the house after the "incident". She had probably gotten drunk. Meaning she would sleep til' 2 and be on a short fuse for the rest of the day. So that left me doing breakfast. I had just finished making some eggs when Emily came in.
"Good morning Emily, want to help with breakfast?"
"Yes!" She smiled. Emily is my youngest and favorite little sister.
She grabbed some waffles from the freezer and started putting it in the toaster.
"So Emily..."
She turned to look at me
"Yes?"
"Wanna come with me to band practice?"
"Is Abby and Opal going?!"
"Well of course silly"
After we ate, I braided Emily's hair. Where was Izzy? We have to leave soon if we are going to make on time.
"Mom came late again....."
"Emie you were supposed to be asleep!"
"Mom slammed the door and woke me up. Mom seemed mad. Then I heard you guys fighting...."
Mom did come home drunk. This wasn't the first either. Mom is always coming home late. She either came home drunk or very very upset. Izzy and I usually have to take care of her.
"Mom just had a bad day Emie. Don't worry...ok?''
"She is always drunk. She doesn't even love us anymore" Emily replied. She looked like she was about to cry.
''Emily you know that's not true! Mom loves you. Take that back! She is trying her best to take care of us"
Emily looked at me like I was crazy. " If she loved is she would be here more often!" She turned around and ran up stairs. Mom was coming down. Emily pushed past her and went to her room.
"Emily!" I yelled
Mom looked at me puzzled
Abby's POV:
BEEP - BEEP - BEEP - BEEP - BEEP!!!!
I peeked one eye out of the covers, without my glasses on I could barely find that annoying clock. During my effort, I knocked over the clock.
BEEP - BEEP - BEEP - BEEP!!!
Oh shucks!!!
"Please turn off that clock," Joy says from the top bunk. I grab my glasses and toss the blanket off me. I throw my leg over the bed, but stopped halfway. I still felt a bit nauseous from last night. I just can't wait for this to be over. God, what is happening??? I don't understand what you are doing. Dad always says God has a plan. Well, I don't understand right now! He also said we fight God because we don't see the picture. Honestly, I wish I could just step back and see the whole picture. I put my head in my hands.
Beep - Beep - Beep!!
That clock!! Can I toss it off the roof?!?!. I reached for the clock and put it back on the nightstand. I had a perfect idea to get Joy up. I grabbed my pillow and climbed the ladder of our bunk. I hit her a couple times all over to get up. "Stop it Abby!" Joy shouts as she pulled the covers over her head. I jump on her and start tickling her. "Wake up Joy!!" I say but in a whiny voice. As soon as I said Joy, her little minion ran in (Opal with a huge smile). Opal ran up the ladder and started jumping on the bed. We both giggled when Joy pulled the covers down and pouted. Opal pulled off the blanket and threw off the bed. Joy groaned but reluctantly got down from the bunk. I look at the clock 6:50. Oh Shucks!!! I climb down and head to the closet to find an outfit for school.
This being my first time in a public school, I really didn't want to stand out. While grabbing my shoes I knocked my head on the shelf in the closet. This caused a box to fall and its contents falling out. Not just any box, my mom's box. The box's contents spilled out everywhere. I found a camera. My mom's brother 's camera. My Uncle used to film everything from us learning to crawl to my mom playing music. My Mom was on the worship team and one of the best musicians ever. I looked through videos and pictures until I found a certain one. This was made a month before she died [Video of her mom doing a cover of the song on top.] As scary as it sounds...I probably should follow God's plans and stop doubting that He's right. Maybe.
