When I woke up I felt like I was rocking. I opened my eyes to see that i really was rocking. On some kind of boat.
In the middle of the ocean.
I immediately freak out. I start looking around me and discover I was by myself on a boat made of vines and sticks it looked like. Which made me freak even more. As I started panicking I heard a voice behind me.
"Tis' okay, little one. There is no need to cry."
I spun around, nearly falling off of the boat only to be caught by an old man that looked to be in his seventies. His strong hands wrapped around my forearms and pulled me to a sitting position.
"Who....who are you? Where's my mom?"
His old eyes got misty as he looked me in the eyes.
"I am truly sorry for your loss."
I shook my head. It couldn't be possible. She couldn't really be dead. This had to be a messed up nightmare.
"Who are you?"
He held a sad smile.
"I am your uncle."
I shook my head.
"No, all my moms family was killed. There's no way your related to me."
"I am your father's brother. "
"Never had one."
Now I was getting angry.
"Still and the same. I am he."
I rubbed my face. This just didn't make since. At all. And he talked weird. I didn't like it.
"If your my uncle, then who is my father?"
He just stood there and looked at me.
"Wh-who is m-my father?"
Something flashed in his eyes that i didn't understand then it was gone before I could catch it.
"Kronus. The King of the Titans. Or at least he was."
I laughed. This had to be some kind of sick joke.
Before I could chicken out I blurted out
"Then who are you?"
"I go by many names. But the one you may be more familiar with is Oceanus."
"The old man of the sea." I laughed. There was no humor in his eyes. I stopped laughing and looked to around. He was serious.
It was hard to believe, let alone process. I watched my mother get killed before my eyes then i wake up on a boat with some long lost uncle?
It didn't make sense to me. I wanted to grieve. I wanted to scream and cry but I refused to show weakness in front of anyone. So I got angry.
"So the story that my mom use to tell me. Your saying it was true?"
"With a few minor details left out I'm sure, but yes. It's true."
I felt my anger rising. How could he! Some Great God he was!
"Where was he then? He was supposed to protect her. He could have saved her. She loved him!"
A look of understanding crossed his features. Then another wave of sadness.
"Unfortunately he was not allowed to leave the Isle. He sent me when he found out about the danger, but by the time i got there it was already too late."
"Not allowed to leave? He did it before to knock my mother up! WHY couldn't he do it again to save her?!"
"Zeus. After finding out he had broke the agreement to stay on the Isle he cursed him so he couldn't leave."
I sat down with my head in my hands and bit my lip.
"So what your saying is if it wasn't for Zeus my mother would still be alive."
"No that's not"
"No. I understand perfectly. Zeus killed my mother. So I'm going to kill him."
"Serenity I- "
"Do you know how to get me to my father?"
He slowly nodded.
"Good. Take me to him."
"Now I wish you would think about this. Your upset, grieving. You need time -"
"No. What I need is you to bring me to my father so he can show me how to kill Zeus."
He had that glint in his eye again. He looked...proud?
"Spoken like a true princess. If this is what you truly want. As you wish."
