Your quirk: Pyrokinesis (fire manipulation)
--Quick A/N: your quirk will be pretty much the only thing set out in each one-shot, everything else, such as name or physical appearances, is up to you--
Beep. Beep. Beep. I hear my alarm go off at promptly 7am. Normally I am not that much of a morning person, but today, I am more motivated than ever. Today is the sports festival. I jumped out of bed and started getting ready for the day. I got dressed, had breakfast, and did my exercises. That generally included warming myself up so I could keep on top of my toes when using my quirk.
Once I was at school, I found my friends, "Deku! Ochaco, Tenya," and with that, my besties spun their heads round and noticed me with a smile.
"Oh, hi, (y/n)! You ready for the big festival today?" Ochaco asked, obviously very pumped for the day. She lifted her fist in front of her face, and she looked the most determined than I had ever seen her.
"As I'll ever be," I replied with a grin, making a small flame as I lifted my fist to level Ochaco's. We all laughed at Ochaco and I's enthusiasm, but then I felt a strong gaze settle on me. You know, those moments when you can feel someone staring at you. I turned around, and saw Shoto Todoroki glaring at me with the coldest eyes. Was it disgust? Or hatred? I knew we weren't the best of friends, and that there was no reason for him to suddenly be the best of friends with me, but it always seemed like he held a grudge against me, even though we only met a couple months ago. I had hoped that we could at least come to terms with each other, but whenever I would try to make conversation with him, he would be dismissive. It was like the mere sight of me stung his eyes. And as much as I wanted to change that; to show that maybe I wasn't the person he thought I was, I was never able to, and I didn't know how.
-TIME JUMP TO THE CAVALRY BATTLE-
I was part of Izuku's team, and we were cornered in by Todoroki's team like a flock of sheep.
Their team was closing in, quickly too. "(Y/N)! Hurry, take us off the ground!!!" yelled Izuku. I've been acting as the team's form of transport for the battle, either pushing us forward, or pushing us up, into the air.
I noticed Todoroki begin to create those ice glaciers of his, the walls of ice. I knew there wouldn't be enough time to do as Izuku said. Todoroki's ice would catch us before we even lifted a metre off the ground, but then I remembered, Todoroki's ice diminishes my fire, but at the same time, my fire melts his ice. I've been so cautious of him the entire time because he always made me feel uneasy, and because of that I've always been on the defence. But I knew my quirk could be used for so much more than that.
The ice was quickly rushing towards us, and I saw Todoroki's cold stare once again. I lifted my arm, enveloped it with golden flames, and swung them towards the ice. My fires danced for a moment, then melted the huge glacier that Todoroki had aimed towards us. Droplets of water hovered in the air, and I saw his shocked expression through it all.
-TIME JUMP TO AFTER THE CAVALRY BATTLE-
"Hey, (Y/N), can I talk to you," I heard a voice murmur behind me.
"Todoroki-san?"
"Meet me in the East wing in 5 minutes. I need to talk to you about something," he replied. What could he want to talk to me about that he never wanted to talk about before?
-AT THE EAST WING-
I was nervous, I'll admit, but wouldn't you be if someone who seemed to despise your guts suddenly asked to talk to you?
"Um, he-hey, what did you want to talk about?" I said, as I stood opposite him.
"Look, (Y/n), I know that I have been rude to you. You never did anything wrong, but I treated you like you did. I apologise for that." I was so surprised. His face and tone of voice seemed so genuine and sincere, I almost didn't recognise him as the Todoroki I knew. After seeing this raw version of him, I knew that he wasn't a bad person. Something must have happened to him, and I happened to fall under some criteria which makes him dislike me.
"...it's okay. I forgive you," I reply with a small voice. "May I ask why you did what you did?"
"My father." I look at him with wide eyes. "He's a bad guy. He hurt my mother and I, and I hate his guts for it all. My father is Endeavour, he's the reason I don't use my left side."
And with that, everything clicked. "My quirk reminds you of him." I realise, sadly. With a slight laugh, I say, "no wonder you hate my guts. I'm everything that you don't want to be."
"No." he said firmly, surprising me.
"What?" I looked up at him.
"That's why I wanted to speak to you. I realised today that you use your quirk differently to the way my father uses his. I wanted to tell you that I admire that, and that I was wrong to have ever judged you simply for your quirk. You're strong, (Y/n). Stronger than my old man." Then he smiled. He smiled. It was a very small one, but it counted nonetheless. I don't really know why he did that, but seeing him smile made me smile.
