Chapter 5 - Nightfall

Poppy's POV

"Smidge push the boat now!" I shouted as we're riding at the log boat we've made.

Smidge pushed it and quickly rode the boat.

"Ahhh!" Everyone was scared because of the big waves.

Our boat keeps crashing on the giant rocks and the big waves keep on striking, making our way unsteady.

"Hold on tight on each other so we could not fall to the water!" I shouted.

I forgot that Branch was actually on my back, and I felt his hands holding my waist. Okay. Now I'm blushing again.

When we're at the center of the river, I shouted, "In the count of three, using our hairs, hold a branch of that tree and swing up to the other side."

"Okay, okay." Everyone answered.

"In three... Two...."

Everyone was getting ready.

"One....Go!"

We used our hairs to swing by that tree and now, we're on the other side!

"Whoo.... Great job, guys!" I cheered.

"Yeah! Whoo..." Cooper answered.

"Um, Poppy?" DJ Suki asked.

"Yep?"

"Is that the Shadowed Mountains?" She answered in fright.

I looked and what I saw just made my eyes open wide. I saw lots of gigantic scary mountains that are very far away.

I taked a look on the map and DJ was right. It was The Shadowed Mountains.

"Whoa." I kept on staring at every mountain. And they all look kinda scary and dark.

"It looks like we need to use thousands of steps more to reach the Magical Poppies." Branch said.

"Yeah.." I answered. "By the way, next stop. We need to go down to that.... Hmmm....." I said as I was still walking while looking at the map. I haven't noticed that the next stop was actually a....

cliff.

"AHHHHHHH!!!" I almost fell down on the cliff. Good thing Branch quickly held my hand and pulled.

"Quickly! Help me." Branch shouted to the Snack Pack and helped him to pull me.

"Thanks guys. I almost fell there! And the cliff was so deep." I said.

"Are...are you okay Poppy?" Creek asked.

"Is there something hurt?" Branch asked too.

"No...no. I'm fine." I answered their questions

"Next time, be alert Poppy." Branch said.

"I will. Thanks again." I said.

"So how can we go down?" DJ said as she was looking at the bottom of the cliff.

"Maybe there's another way to go to the mountain?" Chenille asked.

"Yes there is but the cliff is too wide that we'll just gonna waste our time to go to the other way." I answered.

"Well, you have a point, Poppy." Satin said.

"I know!" I shouted. "Okay. Here's the plan. Smidge?"

"Yes, Poppy?" Smidge asked.

"You will hold our hairs one by one."

"Oh! I don't get it." Smidge answered.

"Okay. So, example you hold my hair and I go down carefully the cliff. And when we are all down, we'll gonna make a big trampoline using our hairs and that's where you will gonna jump. Okay?" I said.

"Great plan!" They shouted.

"Now, who goes first?" I asked.

"Umm..." No one volunteers. Ugh.

"Ugh fine. I go first." I said.

"No! I go first." Branch stopped me.

"Uh... Okay." I blushed a bit. Wait...wait, why did I blushed?

Smidge and Branch went to the edge of the cliff.

"You ready?" Smidge asked. Branch nodded. She held Branch's hair and he started to go down.

"Oh my gah..." Smidge reacted while looking on how Branch is going down.

"Whoa whoa..." It looks like he's having a hard time stepping on those rocks.

I'm kinda nervous. Branch might fall which is what I do not wanna happen.

Suddenly, we heard Branch shouted, "I'm here!"

"Yeah!" We all shouted.

"Okay, who's next?" Smidge looked at us and smirked.

"Umm.." They all gulped.

"Now, let's make a trampoline!" I ordered and we all made a one, big trampoline using all of our hairs.

"Okay... Phew.. One, two, three!" Smidge ran and jumped until she was now bouncing on the trampoline.

"Yeah! Great job!" I cheered.

Branch's POV

After going down from a cliff, we're still walking towards the mountain. Until...

"Um guys, look at the sunset." I said.

"Woah!" Everybody said in amusement.

Everyone was watching the nightfall as if they had seen the most precious thing ever. But me, the most precious thing that I was staring right now was Poppy. Woah... She is as beautiful as the sun. I mean, she was even more beautiful.

Night has come and we decided to take a rest.

Poppy and the other girls were cooking dinner, while we boys were finding sticks to make a campfire. Ugh... I'm exhausted.

After preparing, we all ate and telling campfire stories.

"Okay guys! I have this great story. It's called, the Never Ending Story." Poppy said and giggled.

"Was it funny? Or somethin'?" I asked knowing that the title doesn't sound even cool.

"You'll know it, Branch!" She said and winked.

"Okay?"

"It was a dark and stormy night,
and all the Rainbow Scouts where huddled around their campfire.
One scout looked up to the Scout Master and said:
'Tell us a story.'
And the story went like this:

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" Everyone laughed so hard that they could hardly breathe.

"Whooo!! I can't breathe. Whoo!" Cooper said.

What?! Is that even funny?

"Umm...okay?" I just crossed my arms and watched them laugh.

Poppy quickly stopped laughing and said, "Okay, let's sleep."

"Okay good night!" Everyone said.

"What?! Okay. Good night guys." I said and slept.
