It's audition day.The day I've been waiting for. Auditions are always interesting. There's a mixture of acts; bad ones, okay ones and excellent ones. Most of the time, you get the same people every year. Tweek and Bebe are people who audition for every play, regardless on whether they like the play or not.
Currently, I'm sat beside Ms. Davis in the hall. The stage before us in empty, and we each have paper before us for notes. Ms. Davis clicks her pen with a rhythm, an excited smile plastered over her red lips.
"Okay!" Se exclaims, dropping the pen and rising from her seat. "I cannot wait any longer! Let the auditions, begin!"
First out are the auditions for Dorothy; six people walk out and audition, yet I only wrote down three names. Bebe Stevens, Wendy Testaburger and Bridon Queermo. The only rememberable parts, each person putting a different spin on the traditional Dorothy presented by Judy Garlin.
"Bridon was excellent." Ms. Davis smiles, her eyes twinkling.
"I can't help but agree with you." I reply, drawing a circle around Bridon's name. For me, he's Dorothy. However, the true answer will be revealed once chemistry with others is considered.
"Next!" Ms. Davis shouts, cursing me to flinch. "Witch Of The West!"
More people walk onto stage, say their lines and disappear. There's around ten auditions for the Witch, but I only scrawled two names into my sheet. Red Tucker and Heidi Turner.
Ms. Davis shouts more, calling on Tin Man auditions and Cowardly Lion. Then, the time comes for the Scarecrow.
My mind races with excitement. I want to see Craig preform so badly. All the time he's spent on perfecting the voice, on movement and on over all execution of the role is true perfection. I desperately want to see Ms. Davis' reaction, so she can realise that Craig isn't just built for destruction like she so believes.
Plus, Ms. Davis isn't even aware Craig is auditioning.
Tweek enters first, and the smile on Ms. Davis' face reaches insane yandere standard. She's practically bubbling with happiness as Tweek begins to preform, his voice projecting perfectly as he doesn't read the lines, but performs them.
As soon as he stops speaking, Ms. Davis stands up. Her chair scraps against the floor as she clasps enthusiastically.
"I'm so proud of you Tweek!" She exclaims through claps. Tweek beams, cheeks dusting pink. I clap too, but don't share Ms. Davis' enthusiasm. "I am 100% certain that you will snatch this role!"
Tweek flushes once more, then leaves the stage with a smile. A few more acts come on stage, preform then leave. Once everyone is finished, Miss then turns to me.
"Are we done?" She asks, glancing around the room. "There doesn't seem to be anymore auditions."
"Nope." I say, popping the p and smiling goofily. "There's one more person."
"Who?" She asks, clearly confused.
"He'll be out in a minute." I reply simply, and Miss tuts.
While we wait, Ms. Davis goes through the list of names on her sheet. When footsteps echo in the hall, she looks up. Then, she explodes into a fit of laughter. Her cackles echo through the large room.
"Craig Tucker?!" She exclaims through fits of laughter. Craig scowls, stood awkwardly on stage with his arms crossed. "Who's next? Clyde Donavon?!"
I glare at Ms. Davis and nudge her for insulting Clyde, but she doesn't seem to care. Craig sighs, then flips her off.
"One, don't insult Clyde," I say and Ms. Davis shrugs. "Two, don't underestimate Craig."
She wipes her eyes, giggling to herself as she waves at Craig. "Go on then, show me what you've got."
Craig finally preforms. I can't stop smiling throughout the whole ordeal, listening to Craig and feeling as if I'm actually meeting the Scarecrow in the cornfield. Then he finishes, standing on the stage and staring at his feet.
"Craig Tucker!" Ms. Davis exclaims, standing up. She slams her hands atop the desk before us, causing me to jump. "You actually have talent! Gosh, I feel faint. If I do fall, you must catch me Kevin."
I gulp and Craig snickers, then looks up to catch my icy glare in his direction:
"Oh my!" She exclaims once more. "This decision, it's going to be a tough one."
