Chapter 17 The Snow Before The Storm

When school finished and I went to hop on the bus, I found it strange that Gwen wasn't on. At first, I thought her mum had picked her up from school, but on the drive to my bus stop, I kept texting her. No response.

On my way home, I tried calling her, still no response. I even called Izzy, she didn't respond either. Now, panic was setting in. Even when I got home, I was still trying to call them.

Why weren't you on the bus? I texted for the millionth time. Maybe something happened to them, I thought, they might of been kidnapped or drugged or-

Stop it Sonya I thought, I'll just phone Mrs Ranger, she might know where she is. I quickly dialed her number and waited.

"Hello?" A woman's voice said on the other side. "Hey Mrs Ranger it's me Sonya" I said sighing. "Oh hello Sonya, it's lovely to hear from you" she said in a cheerful voice.

"Hey listen, do you know where Gwen is" I asked her, "I've been trying to call her." She went quite for a minute, as if thinking. "Now that you mention it, Gwen hasn't gotten home yet" she said with concern in her voice.

This isn't good I thought. "Ok well, That's all I wanted to know" I said. "Alright, if you see her tell her to come home ok" Mrs Ranger said, "I will, bye" I said. "Bye." I hanged up.

I quickly dialed Mrs Welder's phone number and asked her if she knows where Izzy was, "She hasn't got home yet" she had said when I asked, "I'm getting worried."

Something's wrong I thought, I quickly got changed into some shorts and a purple tank top. Then, I went downstairs and told mum that I was going to go out.

When I got out the front door, I was surprised to see Eliza standing on my front lawn.

"Hey Eliza" I said walking up to her. "What are you doing here?" As I got closer, I could see that she looked scared. "Sonya, have you seen Izzy and Gwen?" She asked me, fear filled her voice.

"I haven't seen them since school" I said "They're not home either." Eliza let out a long sigh. "I'm getting worried" she said, "I've been calling them for a while now."

"Let's go looking for them then" I said, "They might be in trouble." Eliza nodded, "Then let's start looking around town."

The two of us ran off together and started our search. We started looking around the shops, they weren't there.

When we were about to look elsewhere, my phone went off. I had almost forgotten I had brought it with me. I turned it on and looked I got a message from an unknown number.

I wonder where your friends are

Meet up behind School

I looked over at Eliza. "What is it?" She asked me, I showed her the text. "What do you think about it?" she asked me, I sighed. "I have a feeling I know who sent the message."

"So I guess we're going to head to school then" Eliza said. "Yep."

Without saying another word, we both headed off away from the shops and headed towards school.

When we got there, the first thing we noticed was that the place was deserted. "Are you sure you read the text right?" Eliza asked me as we got closer.

I checked my phone and reread the message. "This is where they told us to meet" I said, putting my phone back in my pocket.

As we began to head towards the back of school, we could see a group of kids hanging around. Be brave I thought.

As we got closer to them, I recognized who they were.

"I didn't expect you to actually show up ice freak" Savanna said, smirking at me. Me and Eliza glared at her.

Savanna is one of Chloe's closest friends, and the second most popular girl in Chloe's group.

"What do you want Savanna?" Eliza asked angrily, "Where are Gwen and Izzy?"

Suddenly two older boys, Tyson, Savanna's boyfriend and Alex, came up, holding Gwen and Izzy tightly.

"Izzy! Gwen!" Eliza cried, "Are you ok?" They looked up at us, "Yeah we're fine" Gwen said.

"What do you guys want?" I asked bitterly. Savannah laughed, "How about we make a deal, You tell the cops that you never got attacked by Scott and we'll let you freak friends go."

Me and Gwen growled at her,"You guys sicken me!"

Then suddenly I had an idea. I put one of my hands behind my back, imagining a snowball forming. "I can't believe you would do such things, just for your disgusting leader!" Eliza said, tightening her fist.

This better work I thought as I could feel the snowball in my hand. Then, with one swing, I threw the snowball, not checking who I was aiming at.

Surprisingly, the snowball landed across Tyson's face. Everyone's face was filled with surprised, except for me, Gwen, Izzy and Eliza.

Taking advantage with everyone being surprised, Gwen and Izzy stepped on the boy's feet, causing them to loose there grip on them.

Quickly, me and Eliza turned around and ran before anyone could do anything. I glanced over my shoulder and saw Gwen and Izzy running closely behind.

I didn't know at the time, I had no idea that this wouldn't be the last time that Chloe's friends would come after us.
