CHAPTER 14

After we’d done eating, he and I sat in his Audi I mentioned before and made our way to Melwood.

We reached there and I had no idea, where my room was. Of course, there was this woman Jane who helped me find it. The room had a huge LFC logo and a sofa of leather. It had a desk and a chair, for the doctor, me, and it also had a whole cabinet full of books and files. The room had a bed for the patients and had a first aid supply. My desk had a laptop too.

I sat on the chair next to the desk and started reading a book about medicines. Of course I knew the stuff already, but I liked reading it.  When I reached the 35th page Daniel Agger came.

“Hey, Daniel” I greeted

“Hey, could I get a band aid?” he asked

“Sure, you okay?” I asked getting up

“Yeah, it’s just a minor cut” he explained briefly

“Here you go” I said handing him the band aid

“Thanks” he said

“Um-hm” I nodded and he left

Just then Fernando walked in. I saw his girlfriend behind him.

“Hey, Ally” he greeted me with a smile

“Oh… hey” I said as I caught a glimpse of Olalla

“This is Olalla, Ally,” he said “Olalla this is Ally”

“Nice to meet you” I said smiling on the outside for Olalla, but inside I was burning

“Nice meeting you too” she said with a fake smile on her face

“Ally, Olalla just came this morning; it was a surprise to me. Anyways, you can sit and talk together for a while” he said with a natural smile

“Sure, Fernando… you okay out there?” I asked

“Yes, I’ll make sure to call you if you are in need there” he said, winked and went back to the training ground

I offered Olalla a seat and she sat on the sofa. I sat next to her… well about a couple feet away.

“So, what time did you come?” I asked trying to create a conversation

“I arrived in Liverpool just a little time before 7:00 AM” she said in her Spanish accent

“Cool” I said

“How long do you know Fernando?” she asked, hesitant

“Well… we met just about a week ago or so” I said trying to keep on my smile

She had me burning with all the explosive chemicals in my veins. My blood felt like current inside. She was the unnecessary wall between mine and Fernando’s developing friendship… or love… or whatever it was.

“You are the doctor?” she asked

“That’s right” I told her

“Does Fernando… like you?” she was beginning to ask questions like a detective solving a crime that Fernando did for just being my friend.

“I don’t know… ask him?” I said, making a weird face

“Do you?” she asked curiously

“What do you mean?” I asked waiting for elaboration “like or like-like?”

“Like-like” she said hoping for a positive answer

“No, there’s nothing between us” I explained getting up from the sofa, “it’s nothing of the sort you think it is” I sighed

“Then, why does Fernando always talk about how nice you are,” she said “Look, I won’t meaning it that way, but he’s my boyfriend and—“

She completed it with a sigh. I couldn’t believe what she thought; she didn’t trust Fernando like she should. How could a woman knowing she doesn’t deserve such an amazing person like Fernando not trust him? I felt bad for Fernando.

“Look, Olalla, Fernando really trusts you, you should too; nothing is going on between us, we are just friends” I explained with a sigh

“Fernando’s brain is always thinking about you and I think he like you” she said with a breaking voice

“Olalla, why would I want to ruin your life? Ask him, if the question is really brought to that point” I suggested

She nodded. I felt like I did a crime for loving Fernando, but I couldn’t help it, I couldn’t get him anywhere outside of the title of ‘the love of my life’. I didn’t want Fernando to think of me as just a friend and neither could I want Fernando, which would break someone’s heart. I couldn’t give up my love and neither could I become so selfish.

“Want to see training?” I asked politely

“Yes” she said and smiled weakly
