CHAPTER 16

I sat on my chair and took out Fernando’s file and on the last total inside out empty page started writing:

I wish I was strong enough to tell you about how I feel about you

I love you

Every day you see me but never realize that I belong with you

I closed the file and put my head down on the table.

Even if Fernando would start liking me and by some complete miracle proposed me to marry him, my mum wouldn’t let me, because of ‘George’ my mum will not even consider Fernando as an option. I decided to pre-warn my mum about me not getting to George.

I took out my phone and dialed my mum’s number

“Hello?” she asked

“Hey, mom it’s me”

“Ally! Honey, where have you been?” she asked

“Mom, I was with Emily in Liverpool all the time” I told her

“Oh, how’s Emily?” she asked

“She’s good, how about you and dad?” I asked

“We are fine honey. Guess what, George came to our house yesterday” she said excitedly” she asked

Crap!!! George!!! I hate him!!!

“Mom, we talked about this” I reminded her of my last year in United States

“About what?” she asked

“Mom, I am really happy being a single and I am not gonna change that any time soon” I said with a creased forehead

“Honey, C’mon! He’s a nice guy” she tried to convince me

“As a friend” I replied

“Why, are you in love with someone else?” she asked, worried

“…No” I said. I wasn’t going to tell her about my love life anyway

“What’s the problem, sweetheart?” she asked politely

Alex came to my room and it was a good time for her to come.

“Gotta go, I’m busy, Love you, Bye” I said quickly

“Bye” she said

I ended the call.

“Oh hey, Alex” I said

“Hey, were you talking to your mom?” she asked

“Yes, she was discussing my least favorite topic, Marriage” I told her

“Why?” she asked

“I don’t want to marry the guy she wants me to, but I don’t want to disrespect her either” I sighed

“Do you love someone else?” she asked politely

Should I tell her? Yes. No….. What should I do?

“Can’t tell, sorry” I said

“Oh please, Ally, I promise not to tell anyone” she pleaded

“It’s…..uhm….. Fernando” I sighed

“Oh, that explains your staring at him” she said fighting a smile

“But, it doesn’t matter anyway, he doesn’t know anything about it” I said

Her smile disappeared by my sentence.

“He needs to know, Ally, maybe he likes you too” she said consoling me

“He likes Olalla and what little chance do I have anyway” I sighed

“Try telling him and believe me he doesn’t even look at Olalla the way he looks at you” she said

Did he really look at me like he liked me? I felt really strong feelings towards him and what if Alex was right and I wouldn’t take any chances before it’s too late and regret it for the rest of my life? I had to take my chances.
