"I SWEAR TO GOD I'M LOSING MY MIND!"
It is 7:29 am on Monday August 21st and I am going to lose it! My 'dear' and 'darling' sister Jenna AKA the 7-year-old-Devil, thought it would be funny if I woke up with a sharpied mustache on my face on the first day of school.
"JENNAAAAA!!!!!!" I screamed as I stormed down the stairs and into the kitchen.
Jenna was sitting down at the table, eating cereal and flipping through a book laid across her lap.
"Yes Harmony?" She replied sweetly with twinkling eyes and a toothy, devilish smile.
"WHAT THE HECK WERE YOU THINKING USING PERMANENT MARKER ON MY FACE?!"
"I have no idea what you are talking about, don't you always look like this?" She replied, fiddling a black sharpie in her hand.
" YOU IDIOT, I HAVE BEEN SCRUBBING MY FACE FOR 20 MINUTES STRAIGHT AND IT'S STILL THERE, I CAN'T GO TO SCHOOL LIKE THIS!" I balled my fists and slammed them on the table.
"What on earth is going on?"
Mom entered the kitchen, her ebony black hair tied up in a tight bun and an apron wrapped around her bright blue, Sheath dress.
"Harmony is yelling at me mommy!" Whined my sister as she ran off the table and fake cried into my mother's outstreched arms.
"NO, MOM, LOOK WHAT SHE DID TO MY FACE!" I said, pointing at the thick, black ink scrawl drawn across my upper lip.
"Jenna Lillian Meyers, did you drawn on your sisters face while she was sleeping?" She asked, looking at my sister sternly.
"No mom, she grew that overnight, I always knew she was a boy, she doesn't wear makeup or grow her hair like other girls."
My mother snikered silently as she let my sister go. "Well, I guess you might need to start shaving afterall Harmony."
There's no hope for me now, I should've known better than to tell my mother, the only thing she takes seriously is her job as the CEO of Fashion City, the only designing agency in Ravenwood city. My grandmother founded it in 1976 when this town had nothing but a dozen houses and a worn down church. Townsflok say it's because of the popularity of the designs that Ravenwood started to bloom, as more important people bought from the company, the more attention we got. I think it's global warming. Ravenwood has always been chillier and gloomier than our sunny neigbourhood towns.
I grabbed a glass of orange juice and sat down at the table, defeated. The only solution now is to hide under a pillow forever or cover my face with make up. I'd take the first. I've always hated makeup, the thought of rubbing colorful stuff in my face makes me subconcious and uncomfortable. Plus it can give you breakouts.
"Sup kiddies."
My dad came down the stairs and sat in the chair between me and Jenna. His chesnut brown hair was neatly combed and his suit was crisp and trimmed. He saw my face and a knowing smile crept up his. His wise, grey eyes searched my sister's blue ones (like my mother's).
"Wanna tell me something Berryblue?"
My sister's lower lip quivered as she spoke,"Harmony ate my last candy bar!"
"Are you kidding me?!" I'm ready to jump out a window.
"Now, Harm, just relax and say sorry, you know how serious your sister is about candy." He said, seriously, while trying to supress a laugh.
I growled and turned to my sister with gritted teeth. "Fine, I'm sorry I ate your last candy bar Jenna, I was hungry."
"Buy me another and I will forgive you."
Now I'm ready to smash a window.
Sensing a fight starting to brew, mom pulled me away to her bathroom. "It's ok, nothing a little bit of make up can't cover."
I'd rather turn into a boy.
