15 minutes after we left the house, we arrived at Ravenwood high. I looked out the window of my car, and looked up at the tall, looming building that was my school. It was 3 stories high with 50 or so classrooms, it looked as washed out as it was for the last century. Mayor Watson refuses to renovate the school, he says it will be "destroying the majestic feeling of one of the most historic buildings in Ravenwood".  I kissed my mom goodbye and stepped out of the car, the shadow of my school and its grey-brick walls pondered over me, giving me goosebumps. I've been here 2 years but it still gives me the creeps.

I climbed up the stairs leading to the entrance and made my way to the auditorium for the weekly Monday announcements from the principal. rusty lockers lined the hallways and welcome banners hanged from the greying ceiling. The tiles that everyone was walking on were cracked and stony as centuries old buildings an be. This broken down house was built in the early 1500's, and served as a house for the early European settlers and their royalty. I took in the musty smell of it all  and made my way through the crowds of people to the auditorium.

Hundreds of wooden chairs lined across the tall room, leaving an alley between the middle. A 4 foot tall stage with velvet curtains stood at the front with a podium on top. Almost all the chairs were taken, so I scanned the crowd for a familiar face.

"NINNY!!!!!!"

I felt my feet get pulled under me as my 100 pound best friend jumped on my back.

I groaned as I got off from the stone cold floor that is probably stained by my mom's lipstick, which she insisted I wore.

The 5'8'' giant with blonde hair and purple highlights squeezed the death out of my now broken 5'1'' body.

"Ohhhh, I missed you bestie!" She squealed as she let go of her tight embrace and took both of my hands. A familiar glint was in her brown eyes. Oh no. That's her crazy eyes, she's about to tell me something I don't want to hear.

"Guess what H, I got us into Kelly Gerald's party on Saturday!" She squealed with delight again and almost broke off my arms as she spun us around. More than a few people gave us a weird glance.

"Alice, you know I don't do parties, especially not the ones hosted by Drama Queen Bee Kelly!"

"Come on Harmony, we haven't seen each other all summer, it will be fun to go to a pool party, and Duke is gonna be there, you know how much I like him!" Alice whined as she took my hands, pouted, quivered her lip, and made herself look exactly like my annoying sister. No is not gonna be an answer anymore.

I sighed."Fine, I'll go."

Alice gave me another bone crushing hug and dragged me to the front-left row of the auditorium and sat us down next to the aisle.

After a few more minutes of loud chatter among the students, the assembly hall was completely stocked, and a short, balding man dressed up in a grey striped suit got up at the podium.

"Hello fellow students and teachers, welcome to Ravenwood High!"

The old man raised his stout arms up in the air as a gesture of welcome.

" I am Principal Wood, and before we begin our daily announcements, let me introduce Ms. Mallaway, our student disciplinary attendant and high school counselor," he said, pointing at a strict-faced, tall, aging woman in the corner who looked more like an angry librarian.

"Now, everyone knows the rules: no going inside the classrooms marked 'Forbidden', no running in the hallways, no entering the school after 8pm, no wandering where you aren't needed and most importantly, DO NOT ENTER THE TOWER ON THE TOP FLOOR!
