SCHOOL FESTIVALS WERE NEVER YOUR THING.
Being the student council president for two straight years, you couldn't help but distaste how school festivals existed. You always thought they were a waste of your time - especially since you were running around left and right with the responsibilities piling up.
But now, you had no choice but to organize the whole thing as it was one of your duties to do so.
Two weeks before the start of the school festival, you were tasked to find at least ten groups or solo performers to perform at the festival. You set up flyers, asked help from the teachers and your fellow student council members; you basically did everything you had to.
A day before the school festival, you were excused from classes to check and monitor the rehearsals of the performers. You and your friend, Hyejin - who was also the student council's secretary, went to sit at the area in front of the stage.
Then, rehearsals began.
First came a dance group you recognized too well. Everyone knew them as the Avengers - an all girl group - who was incredibly popular among the students. They did a cover of the song Bang Bang, and both of you were fairly impressed.
You told them how to enter, when to exit, the stage blockings, their speech and all that. That was actually all you had to do; you were confused as to why you had to be pulled out for class to see them rehearse.
The second group game - and you recognized them as well. They were the boy version of the previous group. They too, were incredibly famous. You watched intently as the music started, the song Get Ugly blasting loudly from the speakers.
Time passed by, and so far, you were impressed with all the performances. The one that caught your eye the most was the dance duo who covered Very Good. Rap performances and dance performances were now done; all that was left were the vocal ones.
The first vocal group entered, covering a song you loved - it was Downpour. You found yourself enjoying the rehearsals so much, you could see your friend Hyejin have fun too.
The last performer came, and you were slightly confused. He was alone as he brought out a guitar with him. You weren't complaining though, he was incredibly handsome and attractive.
You found yourself mentally drooling over him as he awkwardly sat on the chair at the middle of the stage. You couldn't believe your eyes - how was this guy able to look so good even if he was wearing the shitty school uniform?
Hyejin nudged you, noticing your daze state. You had to hit her lightly when you noticed how she wiggled her eyebrows at you in a teasing form.
You sighed, looking at the paper in front of you. You read his information and realized that he was actually older than you, and in the grade above you. Therefore, you had to address him as your senior.
"Sunbae-nim," you started by speaking directly through the microphone in your hands. He nodded and replied a 'yes'.
"You wrote this song?" You asked curiously you read the information paper in front of your hands. You looked up from the paper to see him smile beautifully at your words.
"Yeah," he answered shyly. You unknowingly blushed once he caught your eyes.
"Ehem - okay start!" Hyejin interrupted the two of your staring contest. You were grateful though, you weren't here to ogle at the performances.
He cleared his throat nervously, before he started strumming his guitar. The anxiety you saw in his eyes soon disappeared as his lips curved up to a sweet smile.
Then, he sang.
You felt your heart beat loudly at the boy's self-composed song - you had no idea why you reacted like that. You felt something tug at your stomach, it was a feeling both sickening but satisfying.
Once he finished, he rubbed his nape shyly and bowed. Hyejin clapped real loud as he did. You were starstrucked - but you managed to snap out of it and instructed him on the things you had to.
"Okay! Thank you for your hardwork!" Donghyun bowed as he said those words.
You couldn't believe yourself. There is no way I'm going to fall in love at first sight. Nope. Never. You thought as you cleared your things.
The next day was finally the awaited school festival.
Things were clearly hectic thirty minutes before the start of the performances. The backstage was filled with people running around in panic. There were other students who came to help with the performers' makeup and clothes.
You were one of the people who kept running around backstage. You had to remove your school blazer as it was starting to get hot as you ran around. You had a clipboard in your hands, it held the schedule and the flow of the program.
"We don't know where Park Jihoon went! Can you find him?" You were slowly getting stressed.
You nodded at the Get Ugly team and started running around and asking people. No one knew where he went, so you exited the backstage and searched around the venue.
The audience's screams and chants grew louder as they waited impatiently for their favorites to perform. There were only less than five minutes left till the start of the presentation, and the missing Jihoon's team was the first to present.
You went back inside, and you finally rejoiced once you found him. He was hugging a girl who you recognized (everyone knew them since Jihoon had openly confessed to her at the hallway) but there was no time for greetings so you tapped his shoulder.
"Hello, I don't mean to interrupt this but if you don't get your ass on stage, I'm going to kill you." You added a sweet smile after that, to contrast your scary death threat.
Jihoon looked at you afraid, even though you were practically his junior. He bid his goodbye to his girlfriend before he rushed on stage. Judging by the loud screams from the audience, you could tell they were all there on stage.
But your job wasn't done.
You rushed back inside and went to find the second performer. You could hear the song starting to play, making you panic. You looked at the list: Kim Donghyun was next.
You luckily found him talking to two other students you knew as Lee Daehwi and Im Youngmin, but when Donghyun caught your eye, he excused himself and went to you.
"Am I next?" You nodded and lead him to the area near the stage. He suddenly went pale at the sound of the audience.
You noticed him shaking suddenly, and you were worried. You tapped him gently as he tried to calm his beating heart.
"Hey, are you alright?" You asked even though you knew he wasn't. He nodded at your question, but he didn't look too good.
"You'll do well. Don't worry!" You tried to cheer him up, having to shout since it was too noisy outside. He still looked pale.
So, you grabbed his hand and squeezed it gently. He smiled at the gesture and you realized that it actually helped him calm down.
"Thank you," he said lowly once he was called up on stage. But suddenly, he turned back and ran to you.
Your eyes widened once he bent down and gave you a quick but soft kiss on your cheek. And when you asked him why he did that, he replied.
