Partners In Crime
Mike and I, we're partners in so much poetic crime --
we don't break the rules on purpose but it happens all the time.
All these terms and these restrictions, to me they're so unclear
and when there's freedom of expression - well, they do not belong here.
I want to say the words I want, and to choose just how I do;
don't want to think what form it takes - I haven't got a clue.
I'll listen to the rhythm and I'll listen to the flow,
if I'm happy with the sounds it makes I'll just give the thing a go.
I guess if we were in poem school, we'd both be flunking out,
'cause we both are going the 'just do what feel right' route.
Our guide is intuition, not supposed rules,
and we just ignore those who want to ridicule,
because we didn't adhere to this, or follow that.
I guess following writing 'rules', we're both poor hands at!
