Work Day
So much mindless noise--
Running the machine--
Ruining our dream, our life--
The beauty of it all--
Ha-rat-a-tat ha-rat ha-tat-tat-tat--
Clink-- clink-- clink--
Honk-- honk-- beep-beep--
At night, we close our front doors--
Turn the deadbolt-- turn the off-switch--
Waiting for the phone to ring--
Someone there to reach out to us--
Throw a wrench in it--
Peel us away and pot us something new.
