Draco Malfoy remember the wicked grin Harry had on his face the first time he caught a snitch.Draco Malfoy remember how the saviour used to laugh with Ron and Hermionie at the Gryffindor table.
Draco Malfoy remember the smirk Harry always put at the end of something sassy.
But Draco Malfoy couldn't remember the last time Harry has smiled since he came back to Hogwarts for newts.
Ever since the first day back all he could see were blank, bored expressions or biting his lip as if he was nervous or thinking.Harry talked of course, but only when he had too, he would answer questions in class with an almost monotone voice and seemed to pay all and no attention all at the same time. It was almost like he was staring straight ahead with his head in the clouds.
And his test marks seemed to reflect that, but Harry usually stuffed the failed test into his bag and leave the class as soon as he was able. His friends of course had come back, some of them, but if anything he barely talked to them and seemed to go off by himself time and time again.
Of course it had to do with the war, he had lost a lot, everyone had. But going off alone was no way to heal. But Draco wanted to change that.
On Harry's almost regular evening walk out of the great hall before dinner ended, Draco left also and went to search for where Harry could be.
After looking outside in the garden for a few minutes he spotted a figure sitting at the lake side, looking across the water with a sense of ease.
Getting closer Draco realised that he had no idea what to say to Potter, after all it's not everyday someone who had a bad history with someone else went up to them and talked to them as if nothing had ever happened.
"What are you doing all the way out here?" Draco asked, sounding harsher than he intended.
If Harry was surprised he was there he didn't show it.
"It's quiet" was the short reply.
Looking at Harry with an eyebrow raised, he decided he would pry some more and get the truth while he still could. So he plopped himself down beside Potter."What are you doing all the way out here Malfoy?" Harry asked after a while.
"Do you want the less creepy answer?" Malfoy said back, hoping some humour would lighten the mood.
A small lift in the corner of Harry's mouth was the response.
"Depends, just how creepy is the reason?" Harry asked looking across the lake, not making eye contact with Draco since he had gotten there.
"I'm worried about you" Draco stated bluntly.
Harry breathed through his nose, the way you do when you hear something funny but not funny enough to laugh out loud. Then Potter said nothing else for a while after and Draco felt an uneasy silence form between them.
"I'm sorry about your father" Harry said at last, fingers playing with the frayed hole in his jeans.
Draco felt his heart clench a little as it did whenever he thought about his father sitting in askaban.
"Thank you, I'm sorry for being a prat"
Harry breathed softly through his nose again and his mouth twitched.
"You're still a prat" Harry said, his voice hinting sass.
Draco laughed, out of pure unexpectedness, and shook his head amused.
"Well played Potter"Potter bit his lip again, and his expression became distant again.
"Why do you do that?" Draco asked.Harry sighed as if this talking was exhausting him.
"Do what"
"Bite your lip so much, and look so distant...it's just.."But Harry stood up before Draco could finish.
"It's creepy you're worried but I'm fine." He stated bluntly before walking back up to the castle.--------------------------------------------------------
The next time Draco saw Harry was out past curfew, when he saw Harry sneak out of his dorm (although Draco also snuck out it's totally acceptable).
