FORTY - NINE : ALONE

Normal's POV

The first few pages of her mother's journal bring her back to when Shiragiku was 23, a fresh graduate from an architecture school. Hime finds herself smiling at the cursive letters her mother uses to write about her college life, her friends and most importantly, the two younger siblings that she loves to bits; Ichiro and Akahana Fujisaki

She even attaches a picture of herself wearing the standard black graduation robe with purple lines on it. She has Ichiro and Akahana hug her from both sides as she shows her degree; cumlaude was written in bold red letters encarved on it. Shiragiku has her wavy platinum blonde hair shoulder lengthed and Hime takes notice of how her mother's asparagus green eyes was shining so bright it rivalled the stars hanging in the sky; a sign that she is forever and always a Fujisaki no matter what last name she takes upon in the future.

In the next picture, Shiragiku has a picture with her younger twin, Ichiro. Ichiro has one hand wrapped around Shiragiku's shoulder and the other tucked deeply in his black slacks. Seeing the two standing side by side made Hime smile because she can pick up tiny hints that they are twins. Sure normal fraternal twins – especially twins of different gender doesn't look like the other but Hime likes to think that it's just a Fujisaki thing. Their eyes are the same green, their hair is the same blonde although Ichiro's are a slightly darker than Shriagiku's. They have the same smile, and the shape of their eyes. Looking at how similar they are makes Hime's heart at ease.

The next picture of Shiragiku's graduation day is with Akahana. Akahana has her luscious black hair down. Akahana looks truly happy for her sister as she wraps both her arms around Shiragiku's torso and vice versa. Shiragiku looks truly happy and so did Akahana. They look like sisters in here as Hime rereads the caption her mother puts underneath the picture several times.

My beloved, beautiful and cute little sister, Akahana Fujisaki.

Hime starts to sniffle. She grabs the comforter and hides herself underneath the warm blanket as she rubs her eyes. She knows it's really late when she realises that she is almost at the end of the journal and the way her mother carefully places her words touches Hime's heart in the most personal way possible. Hime doesn't know how else to connect with her mother and Shiragiku's journals are the closest thing she has to her mother. As she takes the nth rest from Shiragiku's journals to bawl her eyes out as she bites her lower lip to keep herself from crying too hard, she suddenly feels a surge of miss and longing towards her mother.

I want to see you, mom. I miss you so much

I wanna love you but I don't know how.

Hime was awake the entire night after reading her mother's handwritten accounts of her life. She tosses and turns, she just couldn't get the feeling out of her head. She is aware that Akahana reaches Japan a few hours ago due to the faint sounds of rushed footsteps outside her room and the very loud sound of the jet landing in the palace premises. Although the runway is quite far from the mainhouse, she can faintly hear Akahana's arrival.

Hime stares at the ceiling as she thinks about the things her mother wrote in the journal. Some it felt fake and some doesn't make sense as it doesn't properly connect to the story. But it's probably because of time constrain and maybe her mother wrote it before she fell asleep or whenever she has the free time to write and thus resulting in the slight inconsistency of accounting her life story.

But whatever it is, Hime feels grateful that her mother is so thoughtful to write a journal of her life. Hime sighs as brings herself out of bed to the kitchen to get herself some breakfast. If she couldn't sleep, she might as well start her day early. She unplugs her phone.
