"Tris, what's up?" She held her stomach with a huge smile on her face. I still don't know why she called me in here. Her smile turned out to be contagious, I smiled too.
"I'm pregnant," Tris said. I went over to her, encasing her in my embrace and I gave her a kiss. Her bright blue eyes were shining with love and glistening with tears of joy. I could feel my own tears pricking at the corner of my eyes.
"That's amazing! Congratulations!"
Nine months later, our beautiful daughter, Ivy, was born. She had her mother's eyes and the same fire burning inside of her. I know that every second I spend with her increases my newest fear of losing her, but I am not scared of becoming my father anymore. I will be strong enough to fight him off. But sometimes, the fear is worth every second she makes me smile, worth every second I wish her a long, happy life, and worth every second I become a protective father.
