"An apple a day will keep anyone away, if thrown hard enough."

Marcel came down the stairs into the courtyard with a bottle of bourbon in his hand. Diego saw him enter and approached him as Marcel walked over to sit down at a table.

"Hey, Marcel, maybe you know what's going on. Klaus ordered us to meet here, and now he's a no-show," Diego informed him, raising his hands up in the air a little.

"What do you want from me? It's a new regime. Get used to it," Marcel told him with a little to no emotion in his voice. Diego just looked at him sadly and shook his head.

Klaus entered the room with Thierry and began to make an announcment. He had one hand on Thierry's shoulder. "Dearest brethren, your attention, please." Every vampire that was there, turned to look at them. "No doubt, you're all surprised to see Thierry Vanchure, who's supposed to be rotting in the Garden for the crime of killing one of our own, and I personally decided to issue him with a pardon. I hope you'll all welcome home Thierry." He patted Thierry on the shoulder as Thierry put his hat on.

Thierry smiled and gave Diego a hug. "Welcome home, man."

Marcel turned to Klaus. "You're in a good mood," He commented as he saw Klaus' smile. "You should be with Malia more often." He took a sip from his drink.

"Well, as much as I might like to, I have pressing responsibilities here," Klaus told Marcel then turned to address the crowd of vampires. "Now, as you all know, the witch Davina is no longer with us." He then pointed his finger around at the room of vampires. "Without Davina, we can no longer monitor the activity of our witch neighbors. However, since their Harvest failed, their magic will soon be gone forever. Until then, I say we keep them on their toes." He then pointed at Diego and dropped his hand, walking a few steps to where he was right in front of him. "Diego, I wonder if you might lead a rousting in the cauldron." Diego smiled and started to plan with the other vampires. Marcel grabbed his bottle and goes to storm away, but Klaus stopped him in the doorway. "Marcel, I'd hoped you would join Diego."

"Nah." Marcel then turned to look at Diego for a few seconds then turned back to Klaus. "I'm gonna take a personal day." He pushed past Klaus and left as Klaus looked down, saddened.

Klaus entered one of the rooms of the compound and found Marcel, still drinking alone as he sat on a couch. Klaus sighed as he looked at Marcel.

"Ugh, is this what's it's come to?" Klaus questioned. "I bear the full weight of our kingdom while you pout like a child."
