"When they ask you why you love the rain, the ocean, the river, tell them it is because unlike the people who should have loved you better, the water was never afraid to touch you; even when you were at your most damaged and broken

"When they ask you why you love the rain, the ocean, the river, tell them it is because unlike the people who should have loved you better, the water was never afraid to touch you; even when you were at your most damaged and broken."

The citizens of the French Quarter all prepare themselves for Father Kieran's funeral service. A long line of community members and family, including Cami, Francesca, Genevieve, and Marcel, make their way to Father Kieran's open casket to pay their respects. Klaus arrived late, and by the time he reached the casket, everyone else at the service is already seated in the pews. He greeted Cami and gave her a kiss on the cheek before going to give his respects to Father Kieran. However, when he opened the casket, Father Kieran is gone, and in his place is a baby. The baby cooed at him, and he smiled.

"Hi." He reached down to pick the baby up, but before he can, a squishing noise is heard, and blood poured from Klaus' mouth. He's been staked from behind with the indestructible white oak stake. When Klaus turned around, Mikael is standing there, grinning. He grabbed Klaus in a chokehold.

"Greetings, boy," Mikael sneerer.

Klaus awakened with a start in his bedroom in the Abattoir compound.

As Hayley and I walked into the bar, Cami walked by us angrily.

"I wonder what crawled up her ass and died," I said to Hayley as I spotted Klaus and Elijah. I nudged her and gestured to them. We looped arms and walked over there, Hayley taking a seat by Elijah and me sitting beside Klaus.

"I will warn you, Malia, Hayley, Niklaus is in a spectacularly foul mood today," Elijah told us as Klaus looked up.

"Sod off." I grabbed his glass of alcohol and put it as far away from him as I could. He looked at me with an emotionless face.

"What's the deal with these moonlight rings? Oliver's trying to set a revolution every five seconds, people are scared, angry, and frankly, I'm tired of stalling," Hayley spoke to Klaus and glanced at me. "And so is Malia."

"It's a day of peace, Hayley. Try and enjoy it. And, in the meantime, with all manner of unknown enemies conspiring against our family, you'll both move back in with us," Klaus told her and I felt some type of joy of moving back in with them, especially Klaus.

"Awesome!" Hayley spoke sarcastically, a fake and forced smile on her face. "Then, we can do that thing where you lock us in the tower, We escape, there's drama, and then you two both realize we're very capable of looking after ourselves."

"Hayley–" I went to speak but Klaus cut me off.

"The rings are in progress," He told her in frustration. "I will live up to my word. We will find and punish whoever launched the attack on the bayou, and you both will return to the compound for your own safeties!" Hayley sighed and rolled her eyes. "But, right now," he grabbed a bottle of scotch. "I'm gonna finish this bottle," he opened the bottle. "–and the next, in the hopes of drowning the demon who has chosen today to haunt me." He looked up at the ceiling. "Cheers, Mikael. Impeccable, Freudian timing." He chugged straight from the bottle.
