CHAPTER 23

18 YEARS LATER

I'm running through the forest, my paws pounding on the ground but I can feel him gaining up on me, but I keep going, my heart racing with the fear but I won't stop, I can hear him, his close but I won't give in...I won't...I have to save my her, I have to, her weight is slowing me down but my determination is keeping me going, her hands are gripping my fur for dear life, I can smell her fear and I can feel her shivering with the fear.

" His closing in on us " she said weakly.

" I know but just hold on, keep holding on tightly and don't let go " I mind linked her. Her grip tightened, she was weak and was just barely holding on, I didn't know how long she could hold on to me but I wasn't going to lose her now....I couldn't...i wouldn't.

" Where are you ? " I heard one of the pack members link me but I couldn't be sure who it was. " I'm in the forest heading north, hurry please, his closing in on us and I can't go on much longer with her " I told them slightly panicking now as I wasn't sure where he was now or how close. " Okay we are heading up your way but I don't know how long it will take us, just keep running and for the love of the moon goddess keep your link with us opened " the person told me. " Okay but please hurry, she's weak and can't hold on much longer " I told them worriedly but I kept running.

" Please you go and leave me here, his not going to give up....he wants me..you can save your self....just go, I couldn't live with myself if something happened to you...please just drop me here...." She whispered but she was so weak that even completing her sentences were taking everything out of her. I felt her grip loosen slightly and I growled at her trying to keep her awake. She can't lose unconsciousness now I thought.

" No ! I will not leave you no matter what, you just keep your eyes open and keep holding on, you're too strong to slip into unconsciousness now, we will make it " I said in a hard voice, I felt her small hands gripping my fur tighter again. I was panicking now because I knew the state she was in wouldn't let her hang on for much longer, so with everything I had I pushed harder. My paws pounding hard, but it was no use I heard him again and this time he was close, too close and no matter how hard I tried it was impossible to out run him, but I wasn't giving in because I was ready to die for her. I had to save her, I had to.

I heard a loud growl so vicious that I swear the trees shook with the vibration. The fear making my tired legs shake but I couldn't stop, for her sake I couldn't. Then all of a sudden she let out a scream that cut through the woods like a knife and all I saw was the creature lunge at us through the air, she fell of my back when the impact made me smash into a tree. I whimpered with pain as I felt my ribs crack with the force but I managed to get up and ran to where she was lying unconsciousness on the floor, and stood in front of her in my defensive position. The creature growled and snapped it's teeth at me, the saliva dripping from its mouth, it's blue eyes hard and glaring at me, it circled around us still growling furiously but I didn't move, I kept my eyes fixed on his, I wasn't going to give in even though I knew I had no chance against him. I snapped my jaw back at him trying to intimidate him but he didn't even flinch. His cold blue eyes fixed on me like a predator and I was his prey.

" Give her back and I might spare you " he sneered through the link. His eyes still fixed, not blinking, not moving, just a fixed murderous glare.

" No " I said bravely. He circled around us again, his gaze hardening with each step, the saliva dripping down his muzzle. " NO ? Are you sure ? " he growled at me, and I swear I saw a smirk on his face. His eyes narrowing to dangerous slits and I knew what that meant.

" No ! You can't have her, you can't take her again " I said giving him a growl now. I narrowed my eyes at him too.

" Really ? Are you sure ? " he said mockingly whilst still circling dangerously around us.
