" Daddy " Beth screams
John jumps awake and rubs his eyes and see's that it is still dark outside
" Daddy" she screams again
John gets out of bed and shivers as the blankets leave his body he grabs his dressing gown and wraps it around himself while yawning. He makes his way into Beth's bedroom to see her sat upright and looking terrified
" whats wrong kitten?"
" i had a bad dream daddy the evil monkey was trying to get me again"
" its only a figment of your imagination"
Beth looked at John confused
" i don't understand"
" well i mean the monkey isn't real kitten"
" it is real it lives inside my eyes and everytime i close them he comes for me daddy"
John could not help but laugh at the way she explained her nightmare
" it's not funny daddy the monkey said he was going to take my dollies and hide them up a tree because i cant climb"
" well you tell that monkey that your daddy can climb'
Beth squeezed her little eyes shut and shouted
" monkey my daddy can climb and he is going to kick your butt for scaring me"
John laughed again at his daughter who was just the cutest thing his eyes have ever seen
" well are you ready to go back to sleep now that he is told off"
" i don't want to sleep alone daddy im to scared can you stay with me"
Beth looked up at her daddy with her eye's huge and like a puppy dog
"OK just this one night OK how could i say no to that face"
John climbed in next to Beth and she snuggled down and fell fast asleep while john thought for such a small child she sure did take up alot of room.
The morning routine passed great breakfast's were ate kids were washed and changed and they were now both lying on the sofa watching yet another Disney movie.
The phone started ringing and John made his way over to it to answer it
" Ello"
" hello John its me Cynthia"
" oh hi Cyn how's things with you how is rehab huh"
" well i am great im healthy and happy again and no longer drinking and i am out of rehab hence why i am ringing"
" well done Cyn im glad to hear that but what can i do for you"
" well i think its time that i had my daughter back"
John felt his heart sink
" you what"
" i want my daughter back John will that be a problem?"
" yes it will be a huge problem i have just got her settled here and she loves it Cyn and im sorry your not getting her back you can come and visit her but she is staying with me"
" John it was only agreed that you had her until i got better well im better so its time she comes back to her mother John"
" we had no such deal you wanted her to live with your mother and i didnt want her near my kitten and poisoning her mind against me like she does and don't deny it we both heard her that time in the house where she was telling Beth that i was a bad man"
" well she stayed with you and im thankful that you looked after her while i was getting better but she isnt staying"
' Cyn she is being looked after here which is more than you were doing for her and its here with me she is staying"
" well i will see my solicitor John and he will be in touch i am getting my daughter back"
" well my solicitor will happily get in touch with yours and my princess is not leaving me "
John slammed down the phone in a state of anger that Cyn just decided that she now wanted her daughter back. John knew that she would have to see Beth as Beth loved her mother and John would not separate them forever but John was not going to let his daughter go without a fight. John loved Beth more than anyone in this world and he was not going to walk out and leave her for a second time
