Chapter 11
Brooklyn's POV:
Pain exploded in my back when I sat up. I groaned in pain and touched my back and sighed heavily. God what happened. I remember screaming in Ryder's arms and then collapsing. The pain was excrutiating.
A soft knock came on my door and he came in and a look of relief washed over his face.
"You are okay. Thank God." He said coming over and kissing my head.
"What happened?" I asked groggily.
"When you fell a silver knife plunged through your back slightly scraping your spine luckily your a werewolf and it didn't do any permanent damage." I took a deep breath and my back was tender.
"They have the articles. The faster we get this done the sooner we can go home, princess." He said to me. I wanted to go home. I got up having on sweatpants and a sports bra, a large bandage was around my lower torso. I shoved on a white v-neck and headed downstairs.
I walked into the meeting room where headmaster Keith and some other council members sat. They had the articles of clothing laid on the table and was labelled.
I started with the vampire piece. It was a black dress shirt. I picked it up and my nose flooded with the smell of fresh blood. Although it didn't smell infected or anything.
I shook my head 'no' and moved into the elven piece. It was a scrap of clothing. The elves were a frolicking kind of race who wore hardly any clothes. I smelt it and the scent of a forest came. Once again I shook my head 'no'.
The Mage and warlock robe was next and the scent was fresh not bad at all. I couldn't make it out but it didn't smell like the creature. I moved onto the demon shirt. It smelt the same as a vampire so I said no again. All that was left were the fairies. The sugary sweet smell almost had me gagging and it made my teeth hurt. I grimaced and shook my head no.
"All the scents of every species and no result." Keith sighed.
"I'm sorry." I said disappointed.
"My dear Brooklyn. Do not fret." He said. I nodded and it was quiet for a few seconds.
"Perhaps we are dealing with a new race?" A council member suggested.
"How would it evolve though?" Keith asked.
"I don't know but it's a possibility. Something has this scent. Maybe it is something new."
"What would you have us do, Keith?" Ryder asked.
"Take Brooklyn home. We need more time to think." He ordered. He nodded and we went to get our things ready.
Ryder helped me to the SUV and I got in hesitantly. He shut the door as I laid back and shut my eyes. When we get home the doctors could give me an injection to speed the healing process. Silver does major damage.
----------
When we got home Ryder carried me to the infirmary. He set me on the table as the doctor came in.
"Needle. Now." He ordered forcefully. The guy nodded and I turned on my back. My shirt was lifted and the bandage was taken off. A sharp prick was in my lower back and I winced, which was then replaced by a cooling sensation and my back immediately felt better.
"There we go. The wound is closing." The doctor said. Ryder nodded approvingly and I waited until I felt the wound fully close before I got up.
I got up and made my way upstairs. I haven't slept this whole week and I was determined to get some sleep.
I tore off my pants and socks and climbed into bed. Ryder came in after and stared at me.
"It's five o'clock." He stated.
"Here. Now." I ordered. He laughed but walked over anyways and I yanked him down and immediately cuddled into him. My leg went around his and my arm around his chest and my head on his shoulder. I sighed in comfort and happiness and I felt the wave of all those hours of no sleep hit me hard.
"You ready to sleep now?" He asked surprised.
"I'm tired..."i mumbled sleepily. I shut my eyes and faded off into a deep sleep.
