The morning was a little brighter than the night, definitely brighter than what happened the previous night. Dylan had finally told his family what the problem was, what he was hiding since a long time. Brianda was hurt the most because Dylan never told her. Whenever she had any problem, Dylan would be the first one to know. She didn't have to say anything to show how upset she was. Everyone was too tired to discuss anything in the night so they had left it for the morning.
Dylan went to the living room to see everyone just sitting quietly, waiting for him.
Nobody had slept well. Everyone wanted to hear something from Dylan, something that would change the truth.
"I think it will be better if you guys talk to Dr. Frazer rather than me" said Dylan before anyone could ask any questions.
"But we want to hear what you have to say."
"What do I have to say? I'm a monster mom. A monster who can do anything anytime and just finish everything. I literally feel as if I'm possessed. You will never know the feeling of your body part being someone else. It's just...daunting."
"Of course we'll never know, but we can help you through it. This is what families are meant for, to stand by you in your worse times. Don't call yourself a monster son. It was meant to happen, so it did. Anyways, we've made an appointment with Dr.Frazer for today. We should get going in another 15 minutes."
Dylan felt his brain exploding on the way to the doctor. He never thought he would have to tell his parents so soon. He told Max he was skipping school that day, he just needed time to sort things out.
The first class for the day was over. They sat in the cafeteria, waiting for the next class to start. Max told Andrea that Dylan was at the doctor's.
"I hope the doctor tells them something relieving...though a part of me just feels that today's session with the doctor is not going to be a pleasant one" said Andrea, looking perturbed by the entire matter.
"Andrea," said Max holding her shoulders, "you know what they say, hardships often prepare ordinary people for extraordinary journeys. I'm more worried about what the school will do after coming to know about Dylan. Like, he'll have to tell them. If his symptoms keep increasing, it'll catch everyone's eye" Max said as he waited for Dylan's call, even though he had spoken to him half an hour back.
Dr. Frazer's clinic was empty. It seemed like the day had been reserved for Dylan. Dylan felt a chill running down his spine while entering. He stepped in, but then immediately stepped out.
"I can't..." said Dylan as he leaned against the wall.
Brianda held his hand.
"You have to Dylan. Running away from the problem doesn't solve it, you yourself told me this. So it's your turn now. You need to face this ok? You can't sit in one corner and cry about what's wrong with your life."
Dylan just didn't have the courage to go to the person who would tell him his future, if he would become a more dangerous one or he would become 'human' again. It felt as if he was standing in front of a tsunami wave. He couldn't run from it, he couldn't escape. He had to face it with all his might, knowing that in all probability, he wouldn't survive.
Brianda looked him in the eye and just pulled his hand a little. They were in the waiting area, and within a few seconds in the doctor's office. He could feel the buzz in his ears as his parents and the doctor spoke.
Nobody's brain was functioning in class. They were all looking everywhere and hearing everything other than the teacher. Andrea looked at two birds sitting on the branch of a tree, all cute and cuddly. She smiled a little as she remembered her first kiss.
