Cassidy

I opened my eyes slowly.
Suddenly all the memories from yesterday came flooding back to me.

I told my secret to a boy I met thirty minutes before.

I was supposed to forget about that.
I was supposed to have fun and enjoy myself for a month, but I ruined it.
Now the whole camp probably knows.

I felt like crying.
But not today.
I'm tired of crying.

I rubbed my eyes and climbed down from my bed.

I looked at the clock on the wall.
2:45
Ughhh
What should I do?
I can't sleep right now.
Maybe I should try to drink some water or something?

I opened the door and tip toed out in the hall.
I walked slowly down the hallway as quiet as I could.

Suddenly I saw a shadow around the corner.
That made me remember how terrified I am of the dark.
I froze.
Oh my lord!
This isn't ending well!
Am I going to die now?!
I held my breath.
But then a person appeared.
I was about to scream for help, but then I saw the persons face.

I breathed out.
"Did I scare you?" Lucas whispered.
"No, not at all" I whispered back and looked into his deep, brown eyes.
I was terrified.

"Why are you up?" I asked
"I couldn't sleep" he answered and ran his fingers through his black hair

"Feeling any better?" He asked.
"Yeah, Thank you." I smiled.

"So..." he started.

...
Awkward.

I looked down at the floor.
"Um..." I mumbled.
"This carpet is so beautiful." I
Oh my god, Cassy, What the hell!
I felt my cheeks heat up.
Hopefully it was too dark to notice.

He chuckled lightly.
"Um, yeah?" he answered.

"Do you... do you want to talk about it?" He asked hesitantly.
I shook my head.
I didn't want to be reminded of it.

"You haven't told anyone, right?" I asked with crossed fingers.
I held my breath.
"Of course not" He smiled.
Tons of weight dropped from my shoulders.
I smiled, and he smiled back.

I felt butterflies in my stomach.
Maybe I was hungry?
"Goodnight" he yawned.
"Goodnight" I smiled.

I was about to walk away, but he stopped me.
"Cassy?" He whispered.
"Yeah" I said.
Then he winked and walked away.

What. The. Hell?
My face turned bright red.

I turned around.
"What was tha..." I started.
But he was gone.

~

Did he actually wink at me?
Or maybe it was just dust from the carpet?
But why did he ask me to stop?
Maybe he just forgot what he was going to say?
Or may...

"CASSY!!!"
"Huh?" I groaned.
Everyone looked at me.
"Can you pass me that goddamn milk, for the seventh time?!!" Brooke shouted at me from the other side of the table with an annoyed expression on her face.
"Sorry, Brooke" I smiled, and passed her the milk.
Brooke chuckled.

"What's on your mind, Cassy?" Chealsea smiled.
I looked at her with a confused expression.
"You aren't eating, and you space out all the time."
"It's nothing." I said and shrugged.
"I just couldn't sleep"
"Do you miss your family or something?" She asked and played with her short hair.
"A bit" I smiled.
I wasn't lying.
I missed my mom and my brothers, but that wasn't the reason why I couldn't sleep.
