"Good morning, my love" Paul said yawning and rubbing his eyes.
Alice, who had woken up twenty minutes after him and was watching him sleep, his chest go up and down when he breathed, turned around, getting on her elbows to face him.
"You're not mad at me, are you?" she said softly rubbing his cheek with her thumb.
"Mad?" Paul asked, but then he comprehended, he shook his head, a sleepy smile appearing on his lips, he was a bit disappointed, to be honest, but he wasn't mad "Of course I'm not, baby, why would I be?" he pulled her closer to kiss her forehead.
"Because you wanted it" she sighed softly, relief, Alice was always worried that she had, somehow, fucked things up.
"And you didn't" he chuckled silently, taking some hair behind her ear "that's perfectly ok"
"It is?"
"Of course it is, Ali, you wasn't ready yet, there will be other opportunities, take your time, I can wait for it" the boy whispered.
Alice smiled, that was so sweet. "Thank you" she said before pressing her lips against his.
She was glad he understood her, she wasn't ready yet, God she was just 16!

Mike was asleep, resting his head on Alice's lap, and the girl played with his dark hair distractedly looking at the view outside the window. She was thinking of how perfect that weekend had been. The way Paul showed her around and helped her to climb a ginormous tree near the camp, and how they tried to boat ride on the lake, but the boat only floated in circles and how he almost fell into the water when he was trying to help her out of the boat. She smoke her first cigarette that day, with Paul and his father while Mike was still sleeping, she didn't like it at all and swore she would never smoke again.
She thought about the "snow" that they were suppose to see but didn't find any. Alice laughed at the thought of helping Mike to catch fireflies at night and how they failed the attempt of fishing.
The lady wondered of how funny should it be to grow up Ina family like that, but she didn't have that luck, her father didn't even teach her how to ride a bike!
The lady was so distracted she didn't notice when the car stopped in front of her house. Alice gently lift Mike's head and placed it on the seat, she thanked Jim for the amazing weekend and gave Paul a kiss. She grabbed her bag and opened the front door of her grandmother's hose, that was always unlocked.
Just as she stepped in Mrs. Clark appeared holding a bowl of hot soup.
"Alice, dear, how was the weekend?" she asked, but not really curious, just to be simpatico.
"Uh goo-" Alice said, a bit surprised, she dropped her bag on the floor.
"Great" her grandmother interrupted her, placing the bowl on her hands "Now take this to George, will you"
Oh, no
"George?" the granddaughter said not excited at all. She didn't want to see her neighbor, and why give him soup anyway?
"Yeah, George, you dummy, your friend. He's horribly sick, poor boy" the elder replied, pushing Alice to outside the door again "Now go".
Alice had to go, but she was mentally planning to give Mrs. Harrison the bowl and go away quickly, avoiding see George.
The girl knocked on the door nervously as some snow started falling from the sky. She knocked again, hoping that the person that would open the door wasn't George.
The door opened and Alice sighed in relief.
"Oh, Alice, darling, great to see you! Come on in!" Mr. Harrison said smiling widely.
"Uh, no, thank you, I really need to go, I just came to b-" she started blabbing, planning a good excuse.
"Oh, no, no, I insist" the man's smile grew bigger as he tapped Alice's back and she walked in forcedly. Mr. Harrison noticed the bowl on Alice's hand. "Is this for Georgie? You can give it to him, he's upstairs in his bedroom. Poor boy, the flu caught him this time"
Alice thought that it wouldn't to deny so she went upstairs. She started thinking of what she would say, what he would say?
She opened the door slowly and saw George peacefully sleeping under a bunch of covers in his bed. His parents placed the little television that stood in the living room in front of his bed. George is paler and thinner than usual. Alice feels bad for him.
She quietly walk to the table near the window and lay the bowl on it.

George shot his eyes open when he heard a girly sigh. His eyes slowly focused on the girl standing by the window. She gave a little jump and turned around to look at him.
"Alice?" he mumbles, he wasn't sure if she was the real Alice. Lately the fever made him have some creepy hallucinations. He blinks a few times as the girl approaches looking down at him.
"Yes, that's me Geo" she says sweetly, noticing his dizziness. The girl pulls a chair and sits next to the bed. "Are you feeling alright?" she asks frowning.
"I am better now" he says quietly. "What are you doing here?"
"Soup. I brought you soup" she says, every wish of going away disappeared.
"Thank you, that's nice" he says forcing a smile and sitting up. "About what I sai-" he started.
"We don't need to talk about it" Alice cuts him off. He nods, concerning.
"So" he says, getting into a comfy position on his bed, on way he could look up at Alice and smile. "how was the weekend?" he asks.
God, why he insisted on talking about things that hurt both of them!
Alice stares at him as he stares back at her, waiting for her to reply. She didn't. She was studying him, his cheek bones, his eyebrow, his eyes, he didn't change at all, she thinks.
She leant in to touch his face. But when she did she immediately pulled away.
"For heavens sake, George, you're burning!" she exclaims touching his forehead again. "I'm going to call Louise!" Alice gestures to get up but George holds her wrist.
"Don't go" he pleads. "Please, I do not want medicines nor go to the doctor"
"But you need to, George" Alice says in compassion, holding his hands, he slowly lace their fingers.
"I don't need to" he mumbles "All I need is you. Right here. With me" he cries.
The girls sighs as he look at him, trying to understand him, he didn't have bad intentions, he honestly wanted her to stay with him.
Alice finally nods sitting back again.
