tyler sat in his car after school and waited to see the boyish figure of ruby exit through the doors. as he saw her strut out and down the stairs, he waited as she just walked near of his car, unaware that tyler was in it. when she was right in front of him, tyler pressed down on the horn and ruby jumped.

"fuck you that wasn't funny," she said as she sat down in the passenger seat, tyler laughing loudly.

"it..." he tried to talk between bursts of giggles. "it... was a little... funny... you've got to... admit it..."

"shutup" ruby said as her lips formed into a smile. tyler's heart did a little jump. he liked this side of ruby.

"aHhh the wicked witch of the west knows how to smile! how beautiful!" tyler said, ruby beginning to laugh along with him.

"shutup tyler oh my god!" she shouted and pushed him a little.

tyler stopped laughing and gave her a small smile. "i know this is gonna sound like a creepy old man with a gross looking beard, catcalling young teens on a late sunday afternoon but, you look good when you smile. it's really genuine. you should do it more often."

"stop being a sappy old man catcalling young teens on a late sunday afternoon and drive. the aquarium waits for no one," ruby said back, not helping but smile a little at tyler's comment.

"well, that was boring as shit," ruby said once they made their way outside.

"wait. shit! ruby we didn't get anything as a souvenir!" tyler gasped.

"fuuuuuck. we also have to write down random facts we learned about the place," ruby groaned in response and crouched down on the ground, pondering at a solution.

"hey. hey i've got an idea," tyler crouched in front of her and she looked up from the ground. "you go back inside and get something from the gift store and i can sit here and write some facts." he looked to her and watched as she shook her head.

"mm no. there's no way i'm gonna go back in there. i'll write the facts you go. get something cheap i'm not looking to spend a lot of money on this project," she said as she handed him a ten dollar bill.

he walked back into the aquarium and went up to the main desk. a bored teen was sat behind a computer. tyler waited for the boy to notice him. "hey man could i go back to the gift shop?"

the boy pointed to a sign taped behind him that said 'If You Are Not Beyoncé You Must Pay To Enter'. "wait what? why would beyoncé even come here? look man, you literally saw me leave. i was with this girl?" the guy shook his head and pointed at the sign again.

"entrance is only $15 bucks, dude," the teen said, bored.

"okay, look. my girlfriend is waiting outside. we came here because she loves fish so much. she wanted to see the dolphins. i brought her to the dolphins. we left and i didn't get anything for her to remember this day. i've liked this girl for like five years, dude. this was our first date. please?" tyler attempted.

"woah. okay. that was intense. nobody's even here. just like, i don't know. you have five minutes. come back here when you're done so i could like, make sure you're telling the truth." the guy motioned towards the gift shop.

shit. now this guy wanted proof. tyler made his way around the store looking for something relatively cheap and with a dolphin on it so his story seemed legit.

why's everything in this store so god damn expensive? tyler thought to himself as he looked at a bunch of dolphin plushies. he noticed a dolphin holding a heart with comic sans font spelling out 'i luv u'. he checked the price. $8.99. yeboi.

after paying, tyler walked towards the exit and held up the plush toy to the boy at the counter, a bright and fake smile plastered on his face. "good luck with the lady!" the boy called out, giving a thumbs up.

when tyler got outside he handed the dolphin to ruby. "here can you put it in you backpack?"

"the hell is this?" ruby said, looking down at it.

"oh i had to lie to get inside. told him you were my girlfriend and that you loved dolphins," tyler explained.

"aw that's actually kinda sweet," she replied as she put the souvenir in her bag along with the notebook she was writing in.

"do you wanna... i don't know... go somewhere?"

"now?"

"yeah?"

"sure. where?"

"how about a park or something?"

"sure."
