CHAPTER 1

"MEGAN WATCH OUT!"

Eeeerrccchhhh...

Monday September 4

I look in the mirror and then shift my eyes over to the clock... it says 7:13 am. A new start, a new beginning. I've heard so many bad things about high school. People say there's always rumors, and gossip. Friends get in fights. They say no matter what, even if you're a freshman, there's always something you get into that you can't get out of. I try to ignore them, but I'm afraid that their right. I don't want to lose my friends, I don't want to hear gossip, and I especially don't want to hear rumors about someone. Freshman... now I know why they call it that. FRESHman. A fresh start.

I slowly walk down the stairs, being lazy and half asleep, not wanting to go to school. At the end of the staircase, I see my tall and very excited mom. I look down at her hand and I see my backpack dangling there. Why mom, why? She swings the teal colored backpack in front of her, her expression like a little girl getting a "unicorn" for her birthday. My life is officially over, dangit. Just from looking at my backpack makes me want to throw up, the fact that I have to go to school.

"Well, what are you waiting for, PUT IT ON!" her voice sounding like it's about to explode with happiness. I put my backpack on, my face looking like I was pouting.

We arrived at school and mom was giving me a speech about not getting in trouble, loving me so much blah blah blah. Let's get this straight, I'm a smart and well behaved student, okay well in my opinion I am. And I'm also not going to college mom, you don't need to say 'LOVE YOU, I'LL MISS YOU'. Seriously. Sure I'm becoming a grown woman but I'm not... yet.

After I stepped out of the car and slammed the door, I'm pretty sure my face fell apart, like ice cream melting on a hot day. Just looking at this school already made me gag in my mouth. The only thing I'm excited about is to see most of my friends that I've known almost forever. There's only one person that I've known my whole life, no joke. His name is Brandon Stevens. Cutest guy on earth, just letting you know! I've had a crush on him since I first opened my eyes, literally. Brandon is 16 years old and his birthday is on June 1, a day before mine. He's one of those guys who wears a white t-shirt with skinny jeans and Nikes.

His hair is the type that all guys have, or at least should have. I always called it the Jacob Sartorius, only because there's no specific name for it. He has sparkling blue eyes with hazelnut brown hair. When he smiles, his cute dimples show. His favorite sport is basketball, and technically his life is basketball. But in the summer, I sometimes see him surfing at the beach. He's always been a nice and loving guy towards me. Especially when someone is talking crap about me he comes up to the person and doesn't even have to say anything to make them leave. His face is just in theirs and they just quickly walk away.

I call him my guardian protector, and he calls me his guardian angel. I have never told him that I've had a crush on him, only because he thinks we're like brother and sister. That kind of relationship. So technically speaking, we're in the FRIENDS ZONE. To me, that's the definition of it. But being friends with my crush is WAY better than not being friends with him at all.

I walked to my locker and heard a "popular girl" voice and automatically knew who was coming...

"SENECA!! OH MY GOSH IT'S BEEN SO LONG!!"

Chelsea, great.

"Hey Chels, it's so great to see you!" I sarcastically said back, trying not to show. So let me tell you the story of the great and beautiful, Chelsea Conley. We first met in Kindergarten and became friends by stealing our stuffed animals at the same time, not knowing they were the same exact ones. When we turned around, our faces brightened up because we saw that they were the same. Then from there on we were best friends and every once in awhile joke about the stuffed animals. When Chelsea and I were growing up together, she became more like those "popular girls" with all the guys drooling over her. She then joined the cheerleading team and and always was in charge of parties. Her nickname is Chels but sometimes I call her Caroline because she reminds me of her from the Vampire Diaries.

As we were walking down the hall, my friend Justin accidently bumped into me and Chelsea because he was turned the other way. I could tell what his expression was. Oh my gosh, I'm dead. So he quickly got down on his knees and started picking up the papers that flew out of my binder. Once Justin, Chelsea and I were done picking everything up, Justin gave me a warm, comfortable hug whispering in my ear, "I'm so sorry Senabug about the papers, but it's great to see your face again." After our arms went to the side I smiled at him and mouthed 'It's ok, I'll see you later' then walked to my first class with Chelsea.

Science was our first period and it was BORING. All Mr. Sherman did was talk about the policies and safety for an hour. As I was walking out, Chelsea by my side, we both waved goodbye and told each other that we would sit together at lunch, and we both made our separate ways.

It's always weird walking by myself, all these strangers staring at you thinking you're a lonely person with no friends. Walking at the same time, I was thinking to myself, high school is where all this drama comes in, best friends get in fights, rumors spread, people embarassing each other, everyone is dating. What if me and Chelsea get in a fight and she spreads rumors about me. What if I never get a boyfriend, or what if I get embarassed. But I guess, all I'm saying is what if this and what if that. I can't think about it, it pains me to think about it. Then all of a sudden, my thoughts are interrupted by a voice, a familiar voice. As a pull myself out of my thoughts, there I see him. The most amazing guy of all. Brandon Stevens staring at me, both of us having eye contact with each other. He's only five feet away at the end of the hall. After a straight minute, he finally comes up to me, picks me up like couples do and hugs me so tight. For a slight second, I thought I was dreaming.

2 hours later

Finally... lunch time! I'm starving. Chelsea and I find a spot in the cafeteria to eat and a second later, a tall marooned hair girl comes and sits by us. For a second we both looked confused because she was smiling at us like she knew us for our whole lives. Then we saw it... Megan Searls. Oh my gosh, it's actually Megan. She has changed... A LOT! Megan was always one of those "nerdy girls" with glasses and we were friends ever since first grade with Chelsea. She always knew all the answers to questions. But looking at her now, I feel like someone invaded her body and on the inside she's yelling that she needs help. She used to have chocolate lab hair and green eyes. But now she has dark maroon hair, longer than last year. Her outfit has definitely changed since last year. She's wearing skinny jeans with Levi shoes and her white shirt has words that say:I SPEAK FLUENT SARCASM. Has her personality changed too, I thought to myself. Me and Chelsea both had the same confusing looks, making sure it was actually Megan.

"Hey ladies, how waz ya summer."

Hey ladies how waz ya summer, what kind of language is she speaking... gangster language?

"Um... hey Megs, it was uh good, what about yours, something must have happened because um... well I think you know why me and Sen looked confused, right?" Chelsea answered back with a confusing and slow voice.

"Oh! I'm glad you asked,"

Me and Chelsea looked at each other, scared of what she was going to say.

"I went to the beach and met these really nice and pretty girls. We became friends and they gave me a makeover. Then a week later they introduced me to a cute guy named Derek Prowell. He's about 5'4 and has beach blonde hair with the bluest eyes I've ever seen. He's a surfer and baseball player. He's 16 and single, but not anymore because we're dating. So ever since I went to the beach, we've been dating! And guess what?! He's here, going to this school!"

Chelsea and I were just staring at her, blankly. This isn't Megs, we need to find Megan, now. I could tell Chelsea read my mind, but for the rest of the day we were all with each other, we never bothered.
