Today is the day that I never wanted to come. Brandon's birthday. I gripped his present and fidgeted with it. I wanted to give it to him with a note. But I can't, it would be too strange for him since I was still mad at him.
I saw him at his locker, looking depressed, which I didn't expect. When he shut his locker slowly, he walked away to his class. I felt bad, really bad. I didn't want him to be depressed on his birthday. So I quickly went over to his locker with a note and slipped it inside making sure it wouldn't slip out. Then I casually went to class.
After School
I glanced over at Brandon going to his locker. My heart was pounding and I was really hot and lightheaded. Making sure he wouldn't see me, I went over to Chelsea, Megan, and Justin who were all walking outside. I just casually smiled and laughed with them like I was there the whole time. I looked behind me and I saw him walking the opposite direction with his backpack. It made me curious, wondering if he saw the present, or just didn't care about it.
It made me feel miserable of how a horrible a friend I am not keeping in contact with my childhood friend, especially on his birthday. There's only one more year left until he's 18 and moved out, going to college early. It's possible since he got held back a year. I just sat on my couch looking at a picture of me and him when he turned 13, a teenager.
I felt a tear slowly streaming down my face, then another and another. I didn't realize I was crying until that moment. I put the picture down, and fell asleep thinking of how tomorrow would go. I hoped nothing would go wrong, I just had to believe.
