DISCLAIMER: I own nothing, but Emily Lupin and the plot of this long shot

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes being a Hogwarts student isn't as easy and delightful as it seems. My name is Emily Lupin, I am in my sixth year in Gryffindor and one could say that I am a loner. But I wasn't always like that. Once I had friends and of course I could never forget about my best friend, Oliver Wood.

It all started when I took the train to Hogwarts for the first time. I was only trying to find the girl's bathroom so that I could change into my uniform, when Marcus Flint, a Slytherin, pushed me in a wall.

"Well well well! Look what we have here lads. A little first year. Awe she ready to cry?" he asked mocking me and laughed at my misfortune. I was only going to the bathroom!

"Oi, leave her alone!" yelled a boy with thick Scottish accent.

"Oh look! Another first year! Came to defend your little girlfriend, haven't you?" Flint said laughing, but left nonetheless.

"Are you alright?" the boy asked sweetly and I nodded looking down at the floor.

"My name is Oliver Wood" he said and extended his hand for me to shake, which I did.

"Emily Lupin"

"Do you want to be friends?"

"Best friends?" I inquired shyly.

"The best of friends" he replied with a huge smile.

That was the beginning of a great friendship between me and Oliver. He was indeed my best friend for over three years, but then he started getting more and more popular due to him playing Quidditch. At that point, I slowly felt myself isolating, distancing from everyone and becoming the loner I am known to be today.

I am not sure if it was Oliver not noticing my behavior or if he simply didn't care, but either way he never came to confront me. Therefore I kept on with my life, focusing on my studies. Despite my loneliness last year I managed to befriend a first year in the library. Her name is Hermione Granger and she is admittedly a very smart girl. She hangs out with Ron Weasley and Harry Potter. Since Harry is the Quidditch team's Seeker, he often talks to Oliver and I sometimes ask Hermione how Oliver is doing, although she thinks that my interest comes from a crush I have on him.

If only things were like what they used to be three years ago!
