I was currently in the library in a remote corner studying for a test on Potions that was due to Tuesday, when I heard hushed voices.
"Are you sure Harry?" a girl, obviously Hermione, asked.
"Yes! He doesn't sleep, he barely eats. If I-we- don't do something he will eventually collapse"
'Were they talking about Ron?' I thought as I grew more and more interested in their conversation.
"What do you propose we do then?"asked Ron.
'OK...so they weren't talking about Ron. Then whom?'
"I don't know, but if he continues stressing over Quidditch so much, he won't last long" stated Harry.
"What if we ask his friends or roommate? Ron? Isn't your brother, Percy, his roommate? Maybe he knows what calms him down" Hermione suggested.
"Great idea, Hermione! You are right. Percy will know. Let's go ask him" said Harry and I heard them leave.
'Percy? Roommate? Quidditch? They were talking about Oliver!'
Not giving much thought to it, even though I was worried about my old friend, I went back to studying for the next couple of hours.
Suddenly Hermione sat on the spot across from me and smiled which I returned, but soon returned my focus back to my book.
"Emily?" she asked as she leaned towards me
"Hmm?" I replied not taking my eyes off the book.
"You never told me why you are a loner"
"What?" I asked bewildered
"Why-are-you-a-loner?"
"I suppose I don't feel like I fit in" I replied shrugging
"But you weren't always like that, were you?"
"What do you mean Herms?"
"Percy told us. He said that you and Oliver Wood were best friends up until you started distancing yourself from him and well...everyone"
I nodded and folded my arms in front of my chest.
"Why are you telling me this Hermione?" I asked calmly.
"He also said that when Oliver felt stressed he would come to you" she continued not minding me interrupting her.
"Hermione please stop. Oliver is part of my past" I tried to convince her
"But to him you aren't just a past, forgotten friendship, Emily! Percy said that Oliver still talks about you. That he wishes you guys were still friends. That he misses you"
I sighed deeply shaking my head.
"Hermione, stop!' I said close to tears "Why are you doing this?"
"Emily, Oliver is feeling extremely stressed and the team is afraid that the way he keeps pushing himself, will lead to his downfall. For the sake of the team and his own, please go talk to him" she pleaded and I sighed again
"Hermione even if I go to talk to him, do you think that he will listen to me? I haven't talked to him in over three years. He won't care...and he will be right not to" I mumbled sadly
"He will! Just please try! Please!"
"Alright! Where is he?" I asked and she only gave me a victorious smile.
