After a full day of exploration, it was time for the motive of Shokukuma's to set in place. We had received the talent cards yesterday, but today is when we really had to do it. As soon I had woken up, I was stunned. A large desk stood in the center of my room with test tubes and various other appliances used for chemistry scattered upon it. My talent card said, "Chemist." I should have expected this. The back of my card read this motive's rules:
1. You will only be allowed to leave your room once you have completed the task at the bottom of this card.
2. If you fail to do this task or try to leave before you are done, you will be punished by your hosts.
3. Once someone has killed, the motive shall end and everyone will get their original talents back.
4. When you are finished, write down the time you finished on your wrist so your host can check later when you are asleep.
5. Do NOT share your new talent to ANYONE.
TASK: Create sodium carbonate. NaCO3.
Great. What the fuck is sodium carbonate?! I just gotta collect those lost memories of chemistry in science. Glancing down, 3 viles of... Something sat there. Some liquids. And a small pipette lay next to them. So, using common sense, these are the ingredients! Time to try out each and every single combo I can.
And after what seemed like forever, A.K.A just 2 hours, I finally fucking finished. I slumped down to the floor in complete exhaustion. I have to deal with this shit everyday until someone kills?! Now I see why it's the damned motive. I shakily held up the finished product and with a small click, my door was unlocked. Before I could finally rush to freedom, I grabbed a pocket off of the desk to write down the time I had finished onto my wrist. 9:40. I hurried to the door and let out a sigh of relief as the doors slid open, the hallway's light waking me up from my slight trance. Turning side to side, I easily noticed that I was the last person to finish. At least I'm alone. But almost as if the day had read my mind-
" Heeeeeey, Arato!" The squeaky voice of Takinoko emitted from his room, right across from mine. " Did it reeeally take you that long just to finish up? I guess we both took a pretty long time!"
" Aha, yeah... Wait, you just finished now too?!" My eyes widened to express how startled I really was. I didn't think it was possible for anyone to go as slow as me. Takinoko gave a proud nod.
" Yep yep! Wow, we really lagged behind, huh?" Takinoko held up his wrist. It also said 9:40. " I feel so refreshed now! Should we find the others?" He questioned, sliding his undershirt sleeve back over his wrist.
" Seems like the best option." I gave a carefree nod. Suddenly, Takinoko grabbed me by the wrist.
" Then lets go silly! The others are probably worried about us, yeah?" Takinoko eagerly began to tug my arm to force me into a speed-walk. " It like, sucks super-duper bad that I can't tell you my role! It's just like, really really hard." My mind couldn't help but think about that weirdly. Really really h a r d- Stop that Arato. What if Yjaro is around here?! " Those dumb ol' kumas really picked a good motive, huh? Right?" Now the prince was just rambling. And it bugged me.
" ... Sure." I spoke with clear disinterest. " Can we just hurry up?" Impatience filled my tone.
" Righto!" Takinoko jerked me forward and quickly began to pick up speed. He used my body to force the auditorium doors open, tossing me into the metal doors like I was a feather. I let out a groan in pain as my body weight didn't even budge the doors open. " ... Oh c'mon, are you that light?!" As if it was nothing, Takinoko slammed his side into the door and it opened wide with ease. I scoffed.
" You make everything seem easy." I mumbled while straightening back out to enter the auditorium. Few people were there. The only people there were Ferimi, Kaiho, Huumi, Kokoma, Janmi, and Harau. " Wait- The fuck?! Where is everyone, isn't this the meeting place?"
" Exactly what I thought." Kokoma spoke first. She pushed her glasses back up her nose and let out an annoyed sigh. " I guess this barrage of brainless rats couldn't remember to stay with the group and not stray away. If they die, it was brought upon them."
" Hey, Kokoma, t-that's not exactly the nicest thing to say-" Ferimi held her hands over her heart but lost her words when Kokoma gave her a sharp glare. That clearly told her to shut up.
" Anyways... I know for a fact that no one left is doing their talent job. I checked." Kokoma continued with a carefree groan. " So, every other nutjob not here is probably out at the second floor. Even though we all agreed on meeting here." She flipped her minty green hair back.
" Seems like it. So, does that give us all permission to go off on our own now, Miss Kokopuffs?" Kaiho leaned himself down to Kokoma with a smug grin. Kokoma landed a hard slap across Kaiho's face, making him stumble back with clear regret of sassing the esteemed author.
" ... Yes. It does. Meeting dismissed." Kokoma wiped off her hands and strutted out of the auditorium to leave everyone else completely in shock. Lesson learned: Never miss around with the almighty Kokoma Teriyaku. So with that sudden finish, everyone split up and went off on their own. I decided to return back up to the second floor. It made me much more at ease than the first floor, and the music room would always be a treasured spot by me. Pushing open the music room door sent a blast of A/C right in my face. Jyushi has been here. I juuust know it.
" Jyushi?" I called out for the peppy little pop maker. I even glanced at the music room closet in case he was hidden in there. " ... Jyushi?" And when you speak of the devil, it shall appear. Two hands grasped my shoulders from behind which made me jump.
" Why hello, Grape Soda!" Jyushi chimed in my ear. I would have said hello back, but another set up hands grabbed me by the head.
" Kyahahaha! Yes yes, hellooooo!" Myaja's cackle filled my senses and she gave my head a shake. " It's the one and only grumpy conductor! We were wonderin' when you were gonna get up here! You're such a slow little lump of nothingness!"
" I'm sorry, but the whole motive thing got in the way. It took longer than I wanted. What matters is, I'm here now, so everyone off me! I'm not a jungle gym!" I smacked Myaja's hands off me and Jyushi yanks his away fast. " Thank you. Do you two wanna go to the dining room?" I questioned suddenly, twisting myself to face them both. " We could probably find something there to eat. I mean, it is a dining room. The first floor kitchen shouldn't be the only place to grab food."
" Oh yes yes yes! I am like, totally starving today, I could eat my own flesh soon!" Myaja clearly over exaggerated her hunger, but I got the memo. Jyushi gave a nod in agreement. " Let'sa go, Mario Bros!" She skipped right out of the room, long pigtails trailing behind her. So me and Jyushi obediently followed behind her. As Myaja approached the entrance to the dining hall, she rubbed her hands together. " Food time here we come-" And then she froze. As me and Jyushi walked to her sides, we too froze. It felt like the whole world had froze.
Click.
Kssshhhh.
" A body has been discovered!"
