My body was still. Frozen. Motionless. All of us were as we gazed up at the two figures that had appeared on that podium. Two... Bears? One brown, one gray.
" Welcome! I see you all look soooo happy to see us, eh?" The brown bear had just spoken. I must be crazy, right? Bears don't talk unless they're on a Cartoon Network show. His voice matched the obnoxious voice that came on the loud speaker moments ago. " My name is Shokukuma! I am your esteemed trip manager!" Multiple multicolored patched were lazily sewn onto Shokukuma. Including a dark brown patch over his left eye, which had a piercing red eye picture on it.
" A-And I am Gurikuma! Your uh, trip supervisor... " The gray bear spoke up from behind Shokukuma. They had multiple tears and shreds in their gray plush and stuffing poofed out of the rips. Unlike Shokukuma, Gurikuma had two normal button eyes.
" And, welcome to the Teriko Resort Killing Trip!" The duo shouted together.
Killing school trip? Did I hear that right? They said kill! These two cartoony talking stuffed bears just asked us to kill!?
" ... What the fuck do you mean by Killing Trip? And where did you two even come from?!" I turned swiftly to see Watari looking furious. " I DEMAND ANSWERS, FOUL DEMONIC BEARS!"
" Now now, little miss cleats! Stick your tongue back in your jaw and listen up!" Shokukuma cleared his throat and put his patched paws on his hips. " Basically, Teriko Resort was a sort of trap to lure you Ultimates in! The way to get out ain't simple... To get out, you gotta kill one of your beloved classmates and get away with it! Kukukuku, isn't it fun soundin'?!" The bear let out a taunting cackle as he stared out at the sea of terrified students. This thing has got to be joking! This beautiful resort filled with opportunities and fun... Was just a trap?!
" Well I guess this is unfortunate. But then again, we don't have a reason to kill." Yjaro calmly approached the podium. He was probably the bravest one here at the moment. With a flip of his hair, he continued, " But I see that you have planned a motive for us."
" Ah- Hey! You ruined all the dramatic fun!" Shokukuma sounded disappointed. " Jeez. I'll have to be careful around you... Anyways, the mop-head is right! I do have a motive planned, just to help hurry up the game!" He waved to Gurikuma, and they scuffled over.
" Well... Me and Shokukuma both know each of your deepest and darkest fears... Even if you think you don't have one, you do. If a murder does not happen in the next 2 days, all of those will come true! For instance, fear of heights, a-and we'll push you out of a helicopter... " A few gasps were heard from the crowd. " I-It's brutal, yeah, but he thought of it! Not me!" Gurikuma hurried to point at Shokukuma. " Anyways... We'll leave you all to do what you wanna. " And with that, both Shokukuma and Gurikuma disappeared behind the podium. And left us all, speechless. Everything went so fast.
" ... I doubt anyone with the correct amount of braincells would even fall for that weak excuse of a motive." Kokoma sighed with disappointment. Well she certainly didn't take that as bad as most of us did. " But we do seem to be in a tight situation." She glanced around to see how the rest of us were doing. I wasn't doing too good. My body shook, my teeth chattered. My whole life has never been eventful, and now this happens. I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder.
" Yo... Arato. That... That was fake, right? You don't believe it, right?" It was Jyushi. He had actual tears in the corner of his eyes. " P-Please don't tell me you believe that bullshit." He croaked out. Without thinking, I pulled Jyushi into a gentle side-hug.
" ... I don't believe it. Just, calm down... " I needed to calm him down. He could have a breakdown. " I'm right here, okay?" I glanced over at Jyushi.
" ... O-Okay..." I heard him sniffle, but when he looked back up to face me he had began to smile. " T-Thank you." I heard a few awww's from the people behind us, and I shot them a glare. They shut up. I pat his back softly and broke the hug.
" Pardon me but... I believe we should take this time to explore." Harau fixed her apron and began to walk away from the group. " If you need to find anyone, use the tablets. The mini-map shows where everyone is incase you need it. I bid you all farewell for now." And with a small bow, Harau left the auditorium. For a moment, it was dead silent. It broke when people started to go on their own paths. Some went to the cafe, some went to the kitchen. Some needed time alone in their rooms. Sooner or later, it was just me alone in the auditorium. So much had happened in just one day. It kind of made me feel dizzy. My sneakers clicked against the floor as I made my way out of the auditorium and back to the hall. I took out my tablet but paused. I forgot about the other tabs. Tapping one, I was brought to the student profiles. Oh, sweet, info on myself that I really didn't want to give out. Thanks. I tapped another tab and was brought to... A game? It seemed like one of those weird tomodachi's you'd want as a kid. But instead of a cute little animal, I saw what looked like a little sprite of... Gurikuma? Yep, gray fur, small tears. What a waste. But, it was sort of cute. Suddenly, two hands covered my eyes from behind.
" Kyahaha! Guess who?!" The person cackled obnoxiously. I knew who that was.
" ... Myaja?" I muttered. Myaja let out a sigh of defeat and took her hands off my eyes.
" Aww, damnit. What gave me away?! " Myaja seemed like she was complaining, but as a joke. " I just wanted little ol' Arato to cheer up! Things seem pretty shit, but hey, I'm here to lighten the mood!" Her pigtails almost seemed to lift, like her personality.
" Well, I appreciate that you wanna lift the spirits but... It's really hard to. The kumas, the motive, the killing... It's just too much to take in." It sort of hurt to just break the mood like that. Her pigtails slumped back to the ground.
" Oh... Well, you shouldn't worry about that! Everyone here is our friend. Even if our fears could come true, if we're all true friends, we wouldn't fall for the motive! We won't give in! I know, because I believe in everyone!" Myaja sounded so... Confident. Even with her slightly creepy acts, she actually understands and trusts us.
" ... I guess you're right. I mean... I believe in everyone too." I said firmly, holding my tie tightly. I showed Myaja the proudest smile I could pull off and she gave me a nod.
" Good. I'm rootin' for ya', scrub!" Myaja twirled around with a bright smile that could just light up a room.As she skipped off, I felt... Calm. I felt safe. Maybe we'll all find a way out. With the tablet in my hand, I swiped it over my door's card reader and it opened with a small pshhht. It shut behind me when I sat down in the plush bed.I could just melt into this thing. Looking out the window, it was night. I mean, when I first woke up here, it was the afternoon. So I guess a nice long sleep is what I deserved...
