I woke up hearing an abnormally loud knock on my door. As I sat up, I was confused for a moment. But then I remembered, I was still in Teriko Resort. I grumbled in annoyance as I swiped my door open. There to greet me, was Takinoko.
" Good morning, Arato! I hope you slept well." Takinoko put his hands together.
" Oh... Yeah, I did. Thanks for... Waking me up in the middle of a good dream."
" Oh oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" Takinoko apologized quickly for his rude awakening. I simply shrugged it off.
" It's fine, Taki. " He seemed to like my nickname, giving me a bright smile. I forced a smile for him. I mean, we're still stuck in this killing trip right? It's hard to act happy. As Takinoko attempted to back away from my door, he collided with a certain someone. They both fell with a thud.
" Oi! Taki! I apologize sincerely, I did not see you there!" The voice that spoke up from the two was Huumi's. Huumi fixed his hair and helped Takinoko up to his feet. " I also apologize for not noticing you there, Arato. It seems I am as blind as a bat this morning!"
" It's fine, Huumi. Where are the others?" I asked. I was sure I would have seen more students in the halls. They both pointed to the auditorium in unison. I guess I slept in that night. Without giving me the chance to ask, Takinoko and Huumi both grabbed one of my hands and practically dragged me to the auditorium. They giggled like kids who had just sneaked their halloween candy early. They pushed the doors open to reveal the others all standing in a circle in the center of the room. They all turned to see us.
" ... You all finally came. You should have told me I could have nope-d out of this gathering." Janmi seemed to be on the outside of the circle. " We were just discussing what we should do this morning. But it seems two people, besides you guys, are missing." Missing?
" Wait, who's missing Jan?" Takinoko stopped gripping my wrist and ran to meet his chemist friend.
" Jyushi and Byari." Janmi replied flatly. Well, I could understand Byari. She seems like the person to procrastinate and sleep overtime. But Jyushi too? Jeez. " We haven't seen them since we all woke up, and we can't go check on them because of the electronic locks. They'd have to open it themselves." He sighed, probably hating having to explain. Takinoko gave him a little pat of the back. But almost if on cue-
" Wow, what a doozy..." All of us jerked out heads towards the auditorium door. Speak of the devil, and he shall appear. It was Jyushi himself. " Oh, hey guys! Sorry, did I miss anything?" He approached me with his usual happy-go-lucky smile.
" What the hell were you doing in the cafe?" Kokoma rolled her eyes at Jyushi. She's as pissed as ever. " We literally were all out here for like, half an hour. And I was pretty sure that Dokari was the first to wake up."
" Guys, I think that's the least of our worries... I guess he slipped past us or something. Shall I make breakfast for you all?" Harau started to make her way to the door. We all nodded, a few saying " Yes please," or " Mhm." Harau understood and exited the auditorium with a slam of the door. Well, I guess things were turning around.
" S-So, Jyushi, have you seen Byari anywhere?" Ferimi twirled her hair on her finger, looking nervous. Oh, right, Byari. Maybe he had seen her.
" Huh? Oh oh oh, that steampunk chick... Nah, I haven't seen her. Tough luck you guys." Jyushi rubbed the back of his head. But he simply laughed it off like it was nothing. Now, I was getting concerned. Byari couldn't have fallen for that dumb-
" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!"
All of us turned to hear probably the loudest scream in our lives come from the door. " That was Harau! WE'RE COMIN', COOK LADY!" Watari charged out the auditorium with all of us following. If she was making breakfast, she was in the kitchen right? The kitchen was connected to the cafe. All of us stormed into the cafe and I approached the kitchen door.
Without realizing it, my heart was racing. Fast. I was scared. The thought of the killing trip haunted me. What if- No. No. That couldn't have happened, right? Myaja believed in us all. Harau probably just dropped something. Something stupid happened. With a sharp inhale, I placed my hand on the handle and turned it. It's creak echoed loudly and left us with silence. But not for long.
Bing, bong, bing.
" Attention all students... A body has been discovered!"
