You checked yourself out in the mirror one last time, giving a nod to yourself.

You looked pretty decent, if you did say so yourself, and you hoped you did to Helen, too.

You were pretty nervous, you had to admit.

This was your first date. You were supposed to be nervous, right?

You wore a dark-blue knee length dress with a pair of black-slip ons. You didn't have much make up on, which you thought suited you best, and your hair was twisted into curls.

You mentally gave yourself a pep talk, and exited your bedroom, making your way down the stairs.

Your mom gave a gasp once she saw you, smiling and engulfing you in a big hug.

Your dad cracked a smile, and nodded at you.

You looked down at the time on your phone, and immediately felt butterflies being released into your stomach."He should be here any minute..."

Your mom squealed with excitement.

Helen's eye's widened when he saw you.

You assumed that was a good thing.

"You look...uh. Really nice."

You smiled and gave a laugh to the awkward tone in his voice.

"I guess we should get going, huh?.".

"Yeah."

Helen had ended up taking you to a nice little ice cream parlor not too far away, and he paid for them.

On the way home, you slyly slipped your hand in his.

He tensed a bit when it happened, yet he didn't complain or jerk away.

He gave a small smile, and clenched it tightly.

Needless to say, that night you went to sleep with none other than Helen Otis on your mind
